It gives me a great deal of pleasure to be able to link to Why Have a Law? by the Rev. Daniel McGrath of St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church in Washington. This is the first in a series of sermons by him on the Ten Commandments, as well as the first sermon his church has posted on their Sermons page. Fr. McGrath has an interesting way of looking at things, because he lists three arguments in favor of moral absolutes and for the Decalogue in particular: "the Decalogue strengthens in us the Divine Image, it protects us from tyranny, and it makes great art possible." I must say I had never thought about the Ten Commandments and their effect on art--but you can read what Fr. McGrath has to say about this--and I think you'll join me in looking forward to the continuation of this series.
