Ordinatio Sacerdotalis |

08/10/06 |
It was one of the few days I was really not looking forward to leading my Scripture study. I had a terrible cold and the thought of conducting a lesson on Revelation did not sound appealing. Though I was trying to put a good face on it, my priest noticed that I was not my usually boisterous self, and he asked me if I wanted a blessing. |

Three levels of Holy Orders:
deacon,
priest,
bishop
to read later
Tough getting priests at all in this modern world.
Most are coming from Ireland, Africa and India these days, right?
I attended an ordination of three men in June - Two of them twin brothers. It was so beautiful. I was deeply touched when they each gave their parents a special blessing after they were officially ordained. What a priviledge to witness the administering of Holy Orders!
It's also interesting, and I don't have any specifics, but I've read that the area where there are more young priests is Religious Orders, not Diocesan priests....and that some of the newer orders are attracting very dedicated young orthodox men, whereas the Jesuits, Benedictines, Dominicans, etc are shrinking. Not sure how true that is, but as many of the older orders (for women too, especially the Benedictines) have become more "liberal" and less true to the Church. The experimentalism that attracted young people decades ago now seems to repel them....???
That much have been very special.
At my brother's ordination there were more than that and it seemed like it took forever.
I would agree with you on most of the Jesuits, most of the Holy Cross, some of the Benedictines, some of the Franciscans in the U. S.
I am not acquaninted with anyone in a Dominican order.
The Brown and Black robed Franciscans that we came across in Poland, on the other hand, seemed very traditional and holy in all they did. You could see it in their mannerisms even among tourists.
