In addition to this fine list, I would be remiss to withold this information: Strange as a reform movement within a reform movement may sound, there is a pan-Lutheran (Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) oratory of biblically conservative, liturgically steeped clergy that has gathered for mutual support and to resist the tide of modernity.

I encourage you to check out the website of the Society of the Holy Trinity http://www.societyholytrinity.org Read the page on "The Rule" http://www.societyholytrinity.org/rule.htm, paying particular attention to the section entitled "Parish Practices". Members of the Society are deeply committed to the weekly Eucharist, Private Confession and Absolution, and the public recitation of the Daily Office.

Then, look at the membership directory http://www.societyholytrinity.org/stswebdirectory.htm to see if there are any STS members serving a congregation within a reasonable driving distance. Although not every parish is practicing every aspect of the Rule at this time, most subscriber clergy are committed to working toward those goals and have a deliberate plan to achieve them incrementally. These clergy would be delighted to receive visitors and/or new members who share those commitments.

Like you, they are somewhat embattled within their own denominations. They would welcome your support and you would benefit from their ministry.

All of you are always invited to visit a Catholic Church. I think you will be impressed. www.masstimes isn't always up to date, but does a pretty good job.

I don't see any ACC churches.

I can personally recommend two I've attended in Virginia:

Do you have a copy of their liturgy I could peruse?

LOL, why thank you!

(I laughed because although I was about to say everyone would be extending an invitation, I remembered a member of a Pentecostal girl friend's youth group -- upon introduction he took a step back when he thought I might be Roman Catholic... and another step when I said, "No, Epicopalian." (This was decades ago...)

But the linked list will be helpful to those who wish to remain Anglican. We've had a small uptick recently in visitors to our Anglican (not TEC) church.

There are many sites with broad-casted sermons if you type in United Pentecostal Church.

I have not found a site with the information you seek. Though I will give you an idea how a service goes.

A half hour before the song worship service the congregation shows up for prayer. Each person finds a spot at the alter or walks around in the and prays and worships God. This is to welcome his Holy Spirit into the service and maybe even have a tongues and interpretation.

After prayer we will have a song service of about a half and hour or more depending upon the move of the Holy Ghost.

Then the pastor will ask prayer request. Then sometimes he will ask for testimonies from those who wish to exalt Jesus for the way he works in their life. Then he will give sermon, this is never pre planned more than a day as the pastor will change his sermon based upon what the Holy Ghost spoke to him during prayer service. There is an alter call after the sermon where one goes to repent or to pray for divine intervention in their life after the service. The pastor then dismisses the service and we will shake hands and fellow ship with one another for about 15 minutes to a half an hour.

This is a pretty rough liturgy but if you have any questions you could FReepmail me and I will try to answer them right away or get the answer if I do not know.

God bless.

Done. Though, I imagine they'll be a bit backlogged by now.

You are funny.

But you know what I mean.

It is a shame that you let the presence of the Lord scare you.

That is not what he meant by fear the Lord.

My apologies. This was intended to be humor. What we know as "liturgy" is a carefully scripted order, language and form of service of worship, from penitence to praise.

That the service is "always" the same, read out of a book, seems to bother many protestants. Although actually it isn't always the same: there are some very specific variations called for in the rubrics, and these variations convey elements of our worship life -- you'll find differences between Lent (penitence) and Eastertide (praise and thankfulness), for example; these are significant to us.

But in any event, the scripted service is not an impediment to our worship; it provides meditative and reflective elements along with the praise.

(I am tired; maybe another can fill in better.)

I do know what you mean and I have a story that illustrates my assessment. I have a friend who speaks Vietnamese. He is obviously anglo so it is a surprise when he speaks it in front of those who don't know him.

He went to one of those churches of which you speak on time out of curiosity. He realized they were speaking in "tongues" and decided to go along with it. He began speaking Vietnamese and no one had a clue what he was doing. They all started laying on hands, pushnig him to the altar, and sobbing, literally, over his speech.

They were speaking nonsense, while he was speaking a known language. I have had a similar experience myself. I do believe in "tongue speaking" but only as far as it's a recognizable and translatable language... not some gobbledygook language no one can recognize as real. I belive it did happen at least once (Pentecost) and that it cold happen again. Have I ever witnessed authentic tongue speaking? NO... and neither has my friend who is fluent in Vietnamese.
