I lived there for seven years.
Never been back since 1995.
Looks like within 24 hours there will be virtually nothing left of the city I once called home.
I hope those I knew there have had the sense to flee.

This came in on one of my email lists, and I thought I would pass it on to all you prayer partners (not my friend, but someone who asked for prayers from a friend of theirs who passed it on to me):


I have a really important request to make of you. i have a wonderful,
wonderful friend who lives in New Orleans, she is not able to evacuate. she is taking
care of her elderly mother and her brother who is dying and she must stay
home and nurse them. This magnificent woman had the opportunity to leave, but
chose to stay with her family and try to keep them safe. So i am begging you all
to STORM Heaven with prayers that New Orleans is spared the worst of this
Hurricane.
May God Bless You All my Friends

Prayers from Texas. I have a sister at West Jefferson Hospital who volunteered to stay and help last night. She works in food services there and does this for every emergency. God bless all of them.

I join in prayer for these who are in the path of the storm or at risk and I PRAISE GOD!!! for sparing the big city the worst of it by tilting the storm to the East, just in time.
