"Rebel Anglican" ping, LOL.

Traditional Anglican ping, continued in memory of its founder Arlin Adams.

FReepmail sionnsar if you want on or off this moderately high-volume ping list (typically 3-7 pings/day).
This list is pinged by sionnsar and newheart.

I think there's an Anglican parish that falls into this category near me. I hope it all works out. It would be great if Pope Benedict could bring conservative Anglicans back into the fold.

Sinkspur, could this be the answer for you? Could a man switch rites (which is much closer than Eastern Rites to the Latin Rite) to become a married priest?

Do Anglicans believe in the Real Presence?

There are Anglican and other Protestant ministers who, though married, have become Roman Catholic priests, and they are allowed to remain married, until the death of the spouse. If that occurs, the priest must remain celibate for the rest of his life.

And a big round of thanks to that ever-obnoxious big mouth gay Bishop Gene and the rest of the queer mafia who ceased control of the US Episcopalian Church, and who destroyed the World Anglican Community.

Nice work. 400,000 Anglicans joining the Catholic Church? A real round of applause to the gay Nazis of the US Episcipalian Church. I especially like gay Bishop Gene at that National Abortion Conference, saying how great baby-killing was. Nice job there, Gene. What are you, the freeking anti-Christ?

There has been a long and often close relationship between
the Anglican and Catholic Churches. In certain situations
there remains a mutual recognition of the validity of key
doctrines, liturgies, and practices. And the Catholic
Church continues to hold the faith and moral teachings as
taught by the Apostles.

I understand that there is also an Anglican Use liturgy
within the Catholic Church, wherein the Book of Common Prayer
is used for the Mass (with minor updates). So there is no need
to lose the liturgy Anglicans may be familiar with.

Can I have the link for this article please? I attend a TAC church and from what my priest and bishop say things are not as far along as Abp. Hepworth often implies. I am waiting for word from Rome before I believe anything but continued dialogue will happen.

I would not be surprised if priestly celibacy is the one issue on which the Church changes. Bringing the Anglicans back to the fold would indeed highlight this issue.

The TAC represents more than 400,000 Anglicans around the world who have either left their church or are protesting against its liberal policies.

Do these Anglicans ordain women, or subscibe to any other "deal breakers"?

I hope there is parallel movement toward establishing an "Augustana rite" for traditional Lutherans.

Squabbles over 'whether to'? They've already turned their Charch into one which wants to play catch-up to sin.

Insofar as I know, *none* of the Continuing Churches ordain women.

Deal-breakers is a more difficult point, but whether it's irregularities in ordination or consecration, or of already-married priests, these are probably solvable.

". . . would alarm Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and undermine his efforts to maintain the unity of Anglicanism amid squabbles over whether to ordain female bishops or homosexual priests."
Squabbles over 'whether to'? They've already turned their Charch into one which wants to play catch-up to sin.

Easy to paint 100% of world-wide Anglicanism with the faults of at most 3-4% of its membership. ECUSA itself? One has a point. CofE? Also under question. But the MUCH larger and orthodox (Anglican) Church of Nigeria, for example, ummm... I don't think so.

Please forgive my ignorance: "Augustana"?

Please forgive my Luther-speak.

"Augustana" referes to the Confession of Augsburg, A.D. 1530. It just has a nicer ring to it than "Lutheran Use Rite", but conveys the same idea.

Sionnsar, as a Traditional Anglican, what are your feelings about this? Would you be willing to become an "English Rite (or whatever) Catholic"?

I think our Church would be thrilled to welcome 400,000 faithful brothers and sisters!

I second that. Ditto about the "Augustana Rite" provided we do not compromise on Truth.

I will watch with interest. It seems like a great development, as long as acceptance of married Anglican priests on special circumstances is not used as the thin end of a wedge for the end to celibacy vows for mainline Catholic clergy.
