No. I think being "open to God" is a meaningless phrase. I am not impressed by a cardinal, a man who wears red symbolizing his willingness to die for Our Lord and His Church speaking in new age wishy washy language.

I'd rather cardinals spoke like this:

But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews indeed a stumblingblock, and unto the Gentiles foolishness: But unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 1 Corinthians 1:23-25

But that's me. ;-)
