Read the bio at the Finney link. Finney began as a calvinist, remained a calvinist, and died a calvinist.
Calvinists can deal with it any way they want. They can even use denial.

Arminius did not object to saying, "the righteousness of Christ is imputed to us," but he did object to saying that "the righteousness of Christ is imputed to us for righteousness." He wanted to avoid saying that Christ's righteousness is a cloak over our unrighteousness. He believed in the imputation of Christ's righteousness we are partakers in Christ. (44)These statements by Arminius would put him in the modern, controversial movement, the New Perspectives on Paul. From the article, Wesley disagreed with Arminius. What do you teach Pastor Xzins?

Right now I wouldn't say anything because I still trying to figure out the difference between the two.
(Ask for an honest answer....and you'll get it. :>)

PS: I prefer the title Chaplain.
It's not that "pastor" doesn't work for me, but I normally have folks call me by my first name....which I don't want to give out here. If anything, I ask them to use "Chaplain."
I spent 20 active duty years, a total of 2 advanced degrees, ordination as an elder, and time in numerous active army deployments and a couple of war zones getting that title and I like it. :>)

But are you Airborne qualified?

Christ died in a way for the elect that He did not for the non-elect.

I've decided I am a calvinist -- in the arminian tradition.
But, who knows.......it could be predestined that I eventually become a calvinist in the tradition of dort.

Close. Actually, I did one of those internet denomination selector tests and Southern Baptist was the #1 result for me. They need to get that dancing and moderate drinking bans in line with the Bible first. Wouldn't want to lead all those nice middle-aged SB ladies astray.
To: connectthedots
Southern baptist women dance and southern baptist men drink. I've known enough to be able to say that with some assurance.
