Lord,
This day
when so much runs swirling
around my head
and my heart aches
with unanswered issues,
and I long
for stability
and health
and peace,
let me turn around
and see you there,
arms outstretched,
waiting,
ready to walk with me
down this road,
with its bumps,
and ruts
and sidings
and obstacles
each and every step of the way.

Forgive me Lord,
when I lose sight
or turn away,
distracted
and forget
that you are right here beside me.

As you walked that long road
to Calvary
doing the Father's will,
may I
walk my own road,
the road I ought to take,
obedient to the call of love,
and in the end,
rise
to see you smiling,
saying "Well done."

Amen.

And then there is the Responsorial Psalm from today's Readings:

I added The Lord hears the cry of the poor in spirit.

Responsorial Psalm
34:2-3, 6-7, 17-18, 19 and 23

R (7a) The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall be ever in my mouth.
Let my soul glory in the LORD;
the lowly will hear me and be glad.
R The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
Look to him that you may be radiant with joy,
and your faces may not blush with shame.
When the poor one called out, the LORD heard,
and from all his distress he saved him.
R The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
The LORD confronts the evildoers,
to destroy remembrance of them from the earth.
When the just cry out, the LORD hears them,
and from all their distress he rescues them.
R The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.
The LORD redeems the lives of his servants;
no one incurs guilt who takes refuge in him.
R The Lord hears the cry of the poor.

O Jesus,
Heart of mercy able to embrace
the whole of this sin-sick world,
Today, Lord,
pour out your mercy
onto those who have forgotten how to pray
in their waywardness or confusion,
or who never learned.

Today Lord,
pour out your mercy
on those who have seen loved ones
ripped from them in hatred,
or accident,
or who patiently wait
for their dear ones who will never return.

Today, Lord,
pour out your mercy
onto those who belittle life,
who see it as an accident
with no meaning or purpose,
who would enslave and kill the unborn
for convenience,
for biosamples,
to make profit,
who would end the life
of the ill,
the handicapped,
those unable to defend themselves
sometimes in the name of mercy,
sometimes in the name of gain.

Today, Lord,
pour out your mercy
on those abandoned,
the poor,
the aged,
the young,
those of the wrong group
or color or faith,
and left bereft of friend or family.

Today, Lord,
use us who hear your words,
as hands to bandage the wounds,
as hearts to share the pain,
as people able to reach out and help.
In little ways and large,
help us to share your love,
help us to be the tools of your mercy,
the instruments of your peace
this day and always,
Amen.

To: Salvation

Magnificat anima mea Dominum;
Et exultavit spiritus meus in Deo salutari meo!

O Lord,
You who lift us up
in our time of need,
holding us tenderly
in the palm of your hand
like a parent
cradling his newborn child,
teach us to remember your love,
to feel the joy of your presence,
to express the gratitude
of our hearts at your faithfulness,
and may we remember you
all the days of our lives.
Amen.

lord,
give me the courage to walk the path which you have set before me.

to do your will always.

i pray you be my shield against evil

if my soul should be tempted, then give me a sign

if i should be tempted to speak an evil, then strike my tongue dumb, that i may not offend you.

if i should be tempted to believe a lie, then shut up my ears, that i might not be decieved.

if i am tempted do evil works with my hands, then bind them up, that i might not do what is evil in your sight.

if i am tempted to stray from your path, then cripple my legs, that they may not lead me astray.

i pray you be my guiding light in the darkness and lead me always to good and salvation.

you wisper always in my ear and tell that which you would have me do.

you guide my actions and teach me your ways, that i may always abide by you and do you work with my hands and always walk in your path.

cleanse me and make me perfect in your sight, because as a human i cannot be perfect without your grace.

i am your willing vassal, make me your vessell to use for good works.

the trials of the world are of no consequence to me, for you are with me.

i count with joy the trials of the world which are upon me, for it is of these that i may perfect my union with you.

if i should be persecuted unto death in your name, then there is no greater privilege, for it is blessing to give my life in the name one so precious in my sight, of the holiest of holy

i wait in earnest for the day that i may serve at your feet in heaven.

your will be done forever and ever, for you are greatness all powerful and lord.

i am your loving and obedient servant in the lord forever and ever.

Amen.

O Creator!
O God who willed into being
the wonders of a universe
so strange,
so beautiful,
spectacular to our eyes
here on this small planet,
O Creator!
who loved us enough
to descend past the magnificance
of all the starry heavens,
to come to this small planet
revolving around a small sun,
to take human form.
How amazing
that you would empty yourself
to walk our paths,
share in our joys,
feel our pains,
bear our sorrows.
You, creator of splendor,
you the carpenter,
you our salvation.
Thank you, Lord,
for loving us,
the works of your hands,
and showing us the way
home to you.
Amen.
