Even though this is an older article it does contain truths regarding dating/marriage/etc that are timeless....

And a man who thinks that his love ought to be self-evident is thought to be rather obtuse in these matters Not thought to be, IS... is obtuse, a dullard (and in my experience lazy and self involved).
But otherwise, the author has it right on. Men need respect and admiration and women need to be loved sacrificously not casually. Funny how the apostle Paul commanded exactly that.
Culture is definitely in a downward spiral these days.

I told her that one of the rarest qualities to find in a young woman today - at least towards eligible men - was kindness. So many men are simply starving for kindness from a woman but so often find sarcasm and cynicism instead. The opposite is also true. Thus begins the "chicken and the egg" cycle.
The old saying that men are only interested in "one thing" namely sex, is cynical and false

Meh, I just don't feel like asking people out. Too much to do.
A buddy of mine says, when asked why he doesn't date either, "Why would I want to blow money on some other man's [future] wife?"
I always get a kick out of that one.

I guess everybody remembers that article on "the chip" that's been going around the Internet for years.
Every young American woman I've met since about 1974 has struck me as severely under-slapped.
