Rather like watching a game of chess. "Your move, bishop".

I am impressed by the one priest who removed his name, although I do wish he had done so without comment.

Unfortuately, the Queens seem to be the most powerful pieces on the board! :&

There's been a recent spike in the Arizona collection. Thanks for the ping.

Most likely there are parishes about 200 miles from nowhere which need an energetic dose of 'new blood.'

I wonder if any of these guys have read 1 Sam 15:22??

"Obedience is better than sacrifice."

Oh, uh, I doubt it. They are "following their consciences", not the Holy inspired Word of God.

Once again, like with the nuncio in Spain, the workers seem to think their OPINION is much more important than the teaching of the Church and needs to be shouted from the rooftops.

They go from a private correspondence from the Bishop to a public pissing match. I hope the Bishop makes laymen out of them, then they can support anybody they want.

One of the signers, the Rev. Andre Boulanger, has said he will not remove his name from the statement, first issued in January 2003.... Boulanger said the bishop's column "is well-written and logical" but is built on the "false premise that homosexuality is an aberration."
Rev. Andre R. Boulanger is retired. I'd wonder if he'd remove his name if his pension were withheld.

I'd go with that. Defrock the damned disordered sodomites. They are wolves in the sheepfold and have no place in the priesthood of Jesus Christ.

Boulanger is an intresting case. Some of what I know is fact and some is speculation by others. The speculations were all presented as facts but I have no first hand knowledge.

The fact is many years ago, probably 15 to 20 years past,Boulanger told his parishioners at St. Edwards that 40% to 70% of the priests in Phoenix were homosexual. He himself was BTW.

Supposedly, our x-bishop told him to get back out there and take the statement back.Boulanger, showing a kind of integrity, refused. The x-bishop told him he would suspend him if he did not and that is also a fact. Shortly thereafter his privileges were suspended and he got a job at the post-office or someplace else around town. He was not suspended for any other reason than that he had spilled the beans about the priesthood in the diocese and was disobedient to his majesty's orders.

I've known this for years but never realized he was on the rolls as a priest and on the payroll too. Go figure!!

Boulanger said the bishop's column "is well-written and logical" but is built on the "false premise that homosexuality is an aberration. Well, Boulanger is operating on the premise that it is not. I suggest he spend more time read St. Augustine and less in reading what modern psychologists say. There is absolutely no proof that homosexuality is not an abberation. Of course our will can be so weakened by habitual acts that we can convince ourselves that they are inborn. That so many homosexuals have been abused as children suggests that this habituation can begin at a very early age.

As long as Bishop Olmstead is cleaning house, perhaps he would like to deal with the maverick(s) who are giving sacramental succor to Dignity Phoenix.
Roman Catholic Masses with Dignity are held the second, third and fourth Saturday of each month.... All services are held at Augustana Lutheran Church in Phoenix ... located at 2604 N. 14th Street. From SR 51 (Squaw Peak Parkway), take Thomas Rd. west to 14th Street and turn left. The church is located on the NW corner of 14th St and Virginia.
The good bishop might also --
(1) want to know why the Franciscan Renewal Center (Scotsdale) and Christ the King (Mesa) are listed on St. Bernadette's national directory of "Gay Friendly Parishes"; and

(2) want to find out more about Jeffrey S. Pudwill of Tempe, a "human resources and training professional" on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries.

Springtime in the desert is a wonderful thing : )

I would prefer 8 Fathers of Mercy priests trying to "reason" with the "disobedient 8". THAT would be worth the price of 100 ND football game tickets ($53 each). LOL!

The FOM would put the smack down on those guys so fast they wouldn't know what had hit them. ;)

(shoot, even FOUR could do it!)
