Saint Francis of Assisi’s Letter to the Clergy,

Posted on 04/20/2004 8:13:15 AM PDT by franky

Following is Saint Francis Letter to Priests that I sent to priests in Boston via email. Following the letter is a response to my email.

"Let us be careful, we clerics, to avoid great sin and ignorance which certain people have towards the Most Holy Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, and His most holy written words which consecrate the [His] body. We know that it cannot become His Body if the bread is not first consecrated by the [His] Word. For we have and see nothing corporally of the Highest One in this world except the [His] Body and Blood, and the words by which we were created and redeemed from death to life (1 John 3:14).

Let all those, then, who administer such holy mysteries - especially those who administer them carefully - consider how base the cups, the corporal cloths and the altar cloths are until they are used to consecrate the Body and Blood of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. And many leave the Body and Blood in unworthy places, carry It through the streets in miserable ways, receive

It unworthy and administer It to others without reverence.

Even His sacred, written words are sometimes left to be trodden underfoot, for the man who has not the Spirit of God does not receive the things of God (1 Corinthians 2:14).

Should we not, because of all these things, be full of zeal, considering that the good Lord offers Himself into our hands, and we handle Him and receive Him in Communion every day? Are we, perhaps, not aware that we must come into His hands (cf Hebrews 10:31).

Come now, let us amend our ways firmly and at once, in all these things and others, and anywhere the most Holy Body of our Lord, Jesus Christ, might be left lying indecorously, let It be taken from there and placed and locked in a precious place. Similarly, wherever the written words of the Lord are found in unfitting places, let us remember to collect them and place them in a decorous place. And let us be aware that it is our duty to observe all this above all else according to the commandments of the Lord and the precepts of Holy Mother Church. And let anyone who does not do this be aware that he must give an account to our Lord, Jesus Christ, on the day of judgement (Matthew 12:36).

And if anyone makes copies of this writing so that it may be better observed, let him be aware that the Lord will bless him."

Almighty God, look upon the face of Him who is the eternal High Priest, and have compassion on Your priests in today's world. Remember that they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation. Keep them close to You lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation.

O Jesus, I pray for Your faithful and fervent priests, for the unfaithful and tepid ones; for those laboring at home and abroad in distant mission fields; for those who are tempted; for those who are lonely and desolate; for those who are in purgatory.

But, above all, I recommend to You the priests dearest to me; the priest who baptized me; the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests who instructed me or helped me by their encouragement. I pray devoutly for all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way. O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen.

This is an incredible statement on many levels. From his horrid command of the language to his spiteful unholy attitude.

People such as this are one reason why I stay very far away from NO-priests. I could never let such a mo-mo lead me to the toilet much less in anything spiritual.

So Fr. V did not recognize the letter from St. Francis or he found it irrelevant?

franky, I hope when you are ready you will check out a SSPX chapel near you. You will not encounter a priest like this one nor will you need to ever send this letter. SSPX is not perfect but it is Catholic with a capital C.

That is a shame that the priest responded in that way. but, you did the right thing by sending it. Maybe next time put a little 'intro' pargraph, so they can understand the relevance of it. I mean, i'm sure they understood it anyway; and just didnt like your message, which is their loss.

I sent a fax to the Bishops' office once, and they didnt reply.; but a reporter contacted me to discuss the issue at hand. i was kind of flattered the Bishops' office thought my letter was worthy of such notice! :-) lol

i think a lot of these priests and bishops don't really like traditional Catholics.

I received another response this AM.

Thank you very much,
Frank.
I hope all priests receive a copy of this email.
God bless you!

God Bless Him!

So far two for and two against. Reads as if I am doing a focus group.

I am sending the same email to all the churches in California. I'm on the L A Diocese now.

I personally believe if I have to introduce the email contents to a priest there is something wrong with that priest. He best get on his knees and ask for the wisdom to discern.

I belong to the Diocese of Harrisburg. The only Latin Mass in our area is held once per month on a Saturday at 4 PM at a Catholic H S, 65 mile away.

Any suggestions on locating one via the Web?

Thanks

I would like to hear the results of that project ;-)

You are in a tough situation. I checked the SSPX website. There are 4 chapels in Pennsylvania but none in Harrisburg. The chapels are located in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Erie and some place called Pittston which I couldn't find on the map.

http://www.sspx.org/chapels.htm

Then I checked Ecclesia Dei. I found only one in Harrisburg; the one at the high school. Is this the one an hour away?
