You're welcome.

Many will come back to the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church during the next year. (My opinion only --but I have my flame suit on, LOL!)

And different versions of the Bible have different words.

Anything else that we already don't know?

BTW, just where did your "protestant" Bible come from anyway?

From the Catholic version preserved through the ages. (But changed by Luther.)

Nice post. Have you heard of Steve Wood? I was listening to a Gerry Matatics tape where he mentioned this friend. When Gerry decided to convert, Steve was outraged. Gerry and Steve debated by phone for four years which resulted in Steve's conversion to Catholicism. I am struck by the level of evangelism in converts like Gerry and Scott. Scott said on one of his tapes that leading Catholics away from Catholicism was like "shooting ducks in a barrel." I can imagine their sorrow and desire to undo the damage after conversion. I think they both effectively serve large segments of the Catholic population.

Steve's apostolate is a little different. I took a look at his website; very interesting, conservative and as Gerry says "not a traditionalist, yet." ;-)

I think nobody gets the satan thing but Mel and me.

All satan can do is ape God and His wondrous works. satan never had an original idea ever. In the Passion from the very begging of the film to its ending, Mel shows satan aping one of God's greatest Mary. In terms of art and iconography in the Garden of Gethsemane, satan is dressed as "Our Lady of Sorrows" it might appear -- but near the end of the scene when the snake slithers out from under his feet we realize this is the negative of "Our Lady of Grace" instead of Mary dressed in white crushing the serpents head -- here is the counterfeit dressed in black letting the snake loose -- only to have the head of the serpent crushed under the foot of Christ (thereby uniting both the Garden of Eden prophecy with the Garden of Gethsemane -- just flat out brilliant).

Anyway, throughout the entire film, satan is not being depicted as just a woman or as female. But satan is shown aping the Blessed Mary Mother of Jesus. Mary gives Jesus strength to carry on. satan tries to tell Jesus he can't do it. Etc. Right down to satan's demonic anti-Madonna and "child". We see the hatred satan has for "Woman" as he dresses in drag, and it makes it all the more powerful that Jesus addresses his mother as "Woman".

And that 's how I see it.

I did not make the complete connection but definitely saw the mockery with the child............Did you see how much the child looked like one of the torturers?

Thanks for your insight. It is definitely valid.

A lot of us got the thing about Satan. Satan is seductive. Resistance is difficult, but it has to be done.

As for the Protestants famous heretics-I would argue that Luther and Calvin just corrected errors that had crepted into the church. Their doctrinal position was no different than the early church fathers. What's one person's heretic is another person's saint.

A minor question. Perhaps I'm not well informed.

Luther believed in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Zwingli believed it was an ordinance, an ordinary memorial. Calvin attempted to mediate the difference at a meeting between the two.

Of the three, who was correct on this point of doctrine? And why should one believe that such a person has the authority to correctly declare such a doctrine?

Harley, that page you posted is from Bob Sungenis' website. Bob has his own problems. I'd lay them out for you, but here is neither the time nor the place.

Dr. Hahn is a professor of Scripture at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Steubenville is one of the few Catholic schools on this continent where the entire theology faculty takes an oath to be obedient to the Roman magisterium. If Dr. Hahn were heterodox in any significant way, he's already on record saying he's bound to obey the order to change his teachings.

Bob Sungenis is a lay apologist. He runs his own apologetics apostolate, responsible to nobody but himself. The fact that he calls it "Catholic Apologetics International" does not prove anything about its orthodoxy or reliability.

Going to Bob Sungenis to trash Scott Hahn mostly just proves that some people disagree with Scott Hahn. But we all already knew that.

Robert Sungenis is working on his doctorate in theology. Simply because he has a different apostolate from Scott does not make him any less qualified.

I certainly think there's enough Biblical evidence to support Satan appearing in many forms. Although I haven't seen the movie I don't have a problem with Satan appearing in whatever form.
