You should have the mod put "(my title)" in the subject line.

Sorry. Ignore my post #21. I'd misread "A review of 'Passionate Uncertainty'" as the title. I just went to the source and saw how I was wrong.

able yet aimless men, hopelessly compromised by perjury...

Excellent line in an excellent article. This, of course, just after I finished reading other posts about the stem cell experiments at Georgetown and the Vagina Monologues being done at another school to benefit something called the "Pro Choice Coalition."

I've always wondered why the good Jesuits - such as Fr. Fessio - don't simply pull up stakes and create a "reformed" Jesuit order. Reformed orders have certainly been created often enough throughout the history of the Church. This happens when the original order has lost the charism of its founder, or when it has simply become fat and lazy.

Of course, having it become treasonous is a whole different matter, and I'm not sure there's any historical precedent.

How about a mutiny, kicking out the "nasty" jebbies, assigning them to the Deformed Jesuit order?   :-)  FReegards.

Now that's a whole different perspective! "Deformed Jesuits!"

Agreed. The Society playes its role admirably during the Counter-Reformation, their time is past.

The Jesuits are not unlike the Knights Templar; both once fiercely loyal and devoted foot soldiers of the Church Militant, turned by their own successes and resultant luxury into lazy slobs, dedicated only to money, apostasy and buggery.

I wish I could have a greater insight into why Rome does not do more. I do not intend to pope bash. I do not understand in this day and age with so much technology why greater control can't be exercised over the Church. The bishops are always clamoring for more local control. They have too much control now in my opinion.

I also would like to know why some of the orthodox intelligentsia do not ask more of Rome both privately and publicly. I read all types of dissent that goes unpunished. Why not more firm questions, with charity, from folks like Fr. Neuhaus, EWTN, Deal Hudson, Karl Keating, etc. They all accept Church teaching, yet not one seems to question why Rome does not act more to restore order.

Actually, after I posted, I realized that the Templars were the only group I could think of that even came close.

Of course, now the Templars are heroes among the New Agers (there are tours in Spain that take these nuts to visit the sites of Templar chapels).

This is a keeper,
Our current Jesuits are all loyal to the papacy, but to the future papacy -- that of Pope Chelsea XII, perhaps -- and their support for contraception, gay sex, and divorce proceeds from humble obedience to this conveniently protean pontiff.
It seems that all the self-proclaimed "faithful" catholics (as in VOTF) are always loyal either to the past papacy or to the future papacy.

Vivat Pope Chelsea XII!
