A few months ago, my pastor delivered a similar sermon. At least eight families walked out of the service I was in, and he said more left the church after that.
It is a sad state of affairs when a pastor stands up and delivers a much needed message, and some in the congregation are so offended they leave the church.

From my perspective, I'm grateful that there are priests willing to speak truth sufficiently clearly that it actually offends some in the pews.

In a way, I find it heartening. The Truth divides. Those that left the Chruch ought to have done so. Unless they have a change of heart, they ought not return.
