His political scope is hard to nail down. I found some other court cases where he awarded custody of children to a dad as opposed to a lesbian Baptist mom, and also spoke on "right to life" and "incapacity" issues at a guardianship committee in 2001.

(snip 1...)"Circuit Judge George Greer, who assigned residential custody to David, had "succumbed to the father’s attacks on the mother’s sexual orientation, which were the primary feature of this case." Northcutt asserted that in order for Julie’s sexual orientation to influence the custody decision, it must be shown that her conduct had "a direct effect or impact upon the children." Northcutt asserted that Greer’s opinion showed his conclusions on this point to be "conclusory or unsupported by the evidence." Greer had seized upon comments by the expert witness, Dr. Merin, to the effect that "a strong stigma attaches to homosexuality and that while being reared in a homosexual environment does not appear to alter sexual preference, it does affect social interaction and that it is likely that the children’s peers or their parents will have negative words or thoughts about this." Apparently, the trial court also presumed that these potential problems would be magnified by the children’s attendance at a Baptist-church affiliated school."

(snip 2...)"Group to hold conference on caring for the elderly
'Soaring to New Heights in Elder Care" is the theme for this year's Guardian Association conference.

The conference will be from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, 11 Central Ave.Scheduled subjects include right-to-life issues, addressed by Judge George Greer, and sessions on community resources, Medicaid qualifications, ethics and incapacity. Attendees may be eligible for continuing education credits.

Fee for the conference is $75, which includes continental breakfast and lunch. Call 360-3622 or visit www.guardian-association.com. "

God bless Governor Bush for stepping up to the plate and speaking up for the right of Terri Schiavo to live. There is a special corner in Hell for people like her greedy husband and that immoral judge.

I hope Jeb Bush runs for President in 2008. I don't care what his last name is, he would be an apt successor to his brother.

Good news. Looks like Jeb did some research too. Way to go> Hope it helps Terri.

From reading this- Can a case now be made that Judge Greer needs to recuse himself , because he is a "well known right-to-die advocate"? The fact that he has violated Terri's rights, under Florida law, by refusing to let her have therapy (see above)could be evidence that he is not being impartial in this case?- Just a thought

It seems that there is also a question of weather Terri can respond or not. Just because she can't talk or move does not mean that she can't respond. The family needs to get in touch with people who work with patients with Neurological damage.

She has not signed a DNR order (they are going by what her husband "says" she wants- Even with a signed DNR - the person still has to indicate what sort of life support ( in detail) he/she doesn't want. I'm not sure that a G-tube is neccessarily even considered life support in the same way that, for example- a ventillator is.

They are going by what her husband claims she wants and there is suspicion all around him. Can a crimminal case be launched? Or how about a private investigator to look into it? Finally- do they have Adult Protective Services in Florida? It seems that Jeb found there are Patients Rights Laws on the books similar to what we have here in Ca. Since a Patient has a right to therapy that means that her husband has been negligent in his duties as a Guardian. He needs to be removed as her guardian.

There is a HUGE difference between some-one needing a ventillator to breathe and a g-tube for nutrition and hydration.

It seem strange that Gov. Bush or any Gov. can issue a stay of execution with a death penalty case, but he can't do as much with this case of a disabled woman-sad.

Anyway-Thank You again Jeb Bush-God Bless you! Everyone keep Praying for Terri.

Thanks for the ping to the great thread, agrace!!!

I love the way that Bush not only supports Terri, but also addresses some of the general issues.

The curtains have been drawn back and the spotlights are shining on stage -- helping the audience to see what Greer, Felos and Schiavo have tried to hide.

Jeb a conservative?...Let's not stretch it.

But I do give him credit for finding his morals and stepping up on the plate. I hope it works, but I get the feeling the court will ignore Jeb and kill the poor girl. Judges now-a-days dont have much respect for either life, the law or the constitution. They do as they wish. And we are letting them.
