More drivel from Mr. "I'm smarter than everyone" Keyes.
Isn't it strange that the election of various conservative Democrats around the country hasn't led to the downfall of the Democrat Party?

The Democratic Party is the party of abortion. One thing they do not tolerate (at least anymore) is a pro-life Democrat for any office of note. The Democrats know exactly what they stand for, although you won't often, if at all, hear them admit it. The Republicans do not know what they stand for, but they'll make all sorts of claims about who they are; their actions do not back up their words.

Abortion is murder. It may cost votes to say so, but that doesn't change anything. Abortion is murder.

LOL...The Democrat party is morally bankrupt and the price for admission, is to spend all ofones time loitering in an intellectual ghetto.
I'm afraid their downfall occurred when they nominated a so-called moderate/centrist/conservative southern politician in 1992.

Conservative democrats....where.?..who..?..
If a democrat had any sense he would'nt be a democrat..
Besides the fact that democrats are and were trying to make this republic a democracy (from day one) as its now become, it is a party of traitors, with RINO's giving them aid and comfort...
Democracy is the road to socialism. Karl Marx
Democracy is indispensable to socialism. The goal of socialism is communism. V.I. Lenin

There are too few conservatives in the Democratic Party to matter, unlike liberals in the Republican party.

the election of various conservative Democrats around the country
Please give me names of a Dem gubernatorial candidate or senatorial candidate who is pro-life and a traditionalist on homosexual and family issues. I don't know of any major-league Dems who mirror conservative GOP positions on these issues. On the other hand, Arnold mirrors liberal Democratic positions on these issues - - and by doing so he will surely help erode GOP commitment to these issues (indeed, the fact he has so much support from self-described conservatives shows that commitment to pro-life and pro-family has already eroded substantially, because these "conservatives" clearly don't give these issues high priority).

SO...
You would argue, then, that the Democratic Party is in the picture of health?
Besides, IF it's true that the great majority of Americans tend to the conservitive end of the spectrum (and it is) then electing Conservitives HELPS the Dim party and electing Liberals HURTS the GOP since one is moving TOWARDS the majority and the other AWAY.
Not really a difficult concept.

Keyes: "Arnold Schwarzenegger is on the evil side."
When this kind of rhetoric is offensive to more pragmatic conservatives, how in the world does he expect this to appeal to the broad swath of rest of the electorate?

More drivel from Mr. "I'm smarter than everyone" Keyes. His condescending Pharisaical brand of self righteousness gets a bit nauseating.

Exactly. Zell Miller and others have not destroyed the Democrat party.
Unfortunately the intolerance and resulting infighting among Republicans has cost them many elections.
