Sex, Lies and the Angry Left (MoveOn hypocrisy over Schwarzenegger grope charges).
Opinion Journal ^ | October 3, 2003 | BY JAMES TARANTO

Sex, Lies and the Angry Left You just have to laugh at the Angry Left. How can these people expect anyone to take them seriously when they publish books with titles like "The Big Lies of George W. Bush and the Big Lying Liars of George W. Bush Who Tell Them?"--and their hero is Bill Clinton? Reasonable people can disagree with Bush policies, of course, but constantly calling him a "liar" serves only to remind people of how honest he is compared with his predecessor.

Two weeks ago someone was floating some nastiness about Ahnold having posed for photographs for the famous photographer Robert Mapplethorpe ... with the inference that maybe Ahnold, like Mapplethorpe, was (gulp) gay.

But now we have proof that Ahnold is hetero. Very hetero. And no better behaved than some Hollywood liberals.

Hey, if I were a macho star like Ahnold and I had the same opportunity to put my hands on gorgeous actresses ....

In some ways, the liberal media is a victim of it's own success, particularly in regards to Arnie. They were very successful in convincing people that "private life doesn't matter" and "it's the economy stupid". Now their having trouble convincing voters that should keep a guy who has been a total economic disaster because Arnie may have groped some gals. I guess we'll see Tuesday though.

Calling her a star is a bit of stretch, she had an ocasional supporting role as Gabor's cousin.

It's a joke... the TV show Green Acres had one of the Gabor sisters on it, and many people call Arianna "Zsa Zsa" because she has the expensive tastes, accent, and flaky inconsequentiality of the Hungarian-born starlet.

Drudge linking to MoveOn is somewhat ironic.

Too funny! I hope these idiots keep shrieking like wild maniacs, the people here are sick and tired of the slime politics of the left! It is going to defeat them sooner or later.

The hypocrisy, sadly, cuts both ways. If Clinton's behavior was outrageous and unacceptable, why is Arnold's given a pass? If we give him a pass just because he's a Republican, doesn't that justify the years of stunningly craven excuse-making by the Democrats?

Does MoveOn really mean to assert as its guiding principle that it's acceptable to molest and even assault women if and only if you lie about it?

No only if you're a Democrat.

Arnold isn't a proven serial rapist and neither has he committed perjury, nor engaged in a land swindle, sold secrets to the Chinese, coddled bin Laden, been given money from a commodities fraud, or a vast aray of other things, associated with the Clintons, which were the crux of our torrents of complaints.

Almost every sexual misconduct accusation, made against Arnold, supposedly happened when he was unmarried , not an elected official , and unproven .

Ronald Reagan carried on an adulterous affair with Nancy and impregnated her, while still married to Jane. Do you think that Reagan was craven ? Is it hypocritical for Conservatives to like and laud him ?

Really surprised a FReeper would be so uniformed. The issue with Clinton was perjury, lying under oath in a civil sexual harrasment suit, a charge for which he was found guilty and over which he lost his law license.

You should know this if you have been paying even the least little bit of attention here.

There is a world of difference between the incident involving Clinton and the allegations against Arnold.

So, you're not bothered at all that there are now 15 women who have made complaints of sexual harassment, nor that the candidate himself made a blanket admission that the accusations are true? Are you a Muslim, or do you simply have no respect for women? Believe in the right of the nobleman to have his way with any woman in his domain, do you?

When you get a chance to catch your breath from all the denials, take a moment to check what these women have actually said, and what Arnold has said in response.

We had those issues with Clinton long before the perjury charge was apparent. Your information may start there, but I was anti-Clinton long before then. There were a lot of things that Freepers were up in arms about that had no connection whatsoever to the Jones/Lewinsky episode.

Abuse of power is the key element that drew our wrath. What we have here is every sign that Arnold will also abuse his power, and that he has a history of doing so.

Not the first time I have been one of a very few willing to say what the majority didn't want to hear.

This candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger is the polar opposite of everything this forum was meant to be. (Those things, in case you forgot: conservative, pro-constitution, anti-corruption.)

Can YOU refrain from posting personal insults/attacks, implications, and putting words in others' mouths, and talk about what I posted ?

I AM a woman. I am NOT a Muslim and a Muslim, would be offended if any none familial male even looked upon his wife's/daughters'/mother's/other female relative's ankle, let alone " groped " her. That Muslim crack only proves how little you understand about Muslims.

How many women came forward, IN PUBLIC, to accuse Clinton and did not hide behind annonimity ?

How many apologies did Clinton make in public ?

How do you know that the Arnold accusers are telling the truth ? And no, his apologu wasn't specific enough for that to be " proof " that all of these unnamed women are telling the truth.

Did you believe the spewings about President Bush taking a girl to Mexico for an abortion ? Did those printed accusations stop when a girl came forward, saying that this did not happen and that she NEVER even had sexual relations with him ? No, they didn't.

Do I approve of/ just ignore sexual harassment ? No, I don't. OTOH, actors and actresses, from the beginnings of time, have always had looser morals than the general public; which is why, until only recently they were looked down upon by society.

Do the testimonials, by many women he has been in films with, mean nothing at all to you ? Those women came out in public and in print, to say that he hadn't behaved inappropriately.

Do any of us know what Reagan did in Hollywood, on movie sets ? No, we don't. I am not accusing him of bad behaviors, but simply stating that we don't KNOW what he did. We do know that he impregnented Nancy prior to marrying her. We also know that he was divorced and as such, would have been completely unelectable a scant decade prior to his election of governor, because the public refused to elect divorced men back then.
