http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com | It is one of the sad signs of our times that a furor was created because Rush Limbaugh expressed an opinion as to why a particular quarterback seemed to him to be over-rated. In his view, it was because the powers that be in professional football were anxious to have a star quarterback who was black.

If this was a criticism of anybody, it was a criticism of the powers that be in the National Football League. Nevertheless, people have gone ballistic, just as if he had criticized blacks as a race. But you have to twist the truth like a pretzel to reach that conclusion.

Rush's resignation from ESPN may stop the dogs from barking at his heels and all this may soon be forgotten -- but it shouldn't be. Hyper-censorship about anything in any way involving race is a danger.....

No.     All this Rush stuff
is stupid. There is real news
for the media...

Haven't you noticed
that the executive that
gave the football job

to Rush doesn't get
punished? So far as I know,
he's not even named.

Everyone knows Rush
says shock-jock type things. It's not
news that he's said them.

This media hype
is just worthless flash and smoke
and I hate seeing

real reporters and
real news media playing
social action games.

Actually, if you've never checked out JWR, they've got quite a collection of Conservative columnists, including Mona Charon, Thomas Sowell, Michelle Malkin, Betsy Hart, and Ann Coulter. They've also got libertarians like Walter Williams and Larry Elder. They've also got some libs as well, and it's nice to have a single clearing house for columns from all points of view.

I don't like seeing the so called news people playing "social action" games either. But that's what they do, so I just don't watch them at all anymore.

However, the attack on Rush is part and parcel of the Left's attack on American tradition. That makes it significant.

I, for one, welcome Sowell's comments.
