Thomas Sowell:
ON RACIAL CENSORSHIP AND RUSH LIMBAUGH
http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com | It is one of the sad signs of our times that a furor was created because Rush Limbaugh expressed an opinion as to why a particular quarterback seemed to him to be over-rated. In his view, it was because the powers that be in professional football were anxious to have a star quarterback who was black.
If this was a criticism of anybody, it was a criticism of the powers that be in the National Football League. Nevertheless, people have gone ballistic, just as if he had criticized blacks as a race. But you have to twist the truth like a pretzel to reach that conclusion.
Rush's resignation from ESPN may stop the dogs from barking at his heels and all this may soon be forgotten -- but it shouldn't be. Hyper-censorship about anything in any way involving race is a danger.....

When ESPN's
executives gave Limbaugh
the pre-game show job
was that an "attack"
on the US tradition
to leave sports as sports
and distance ourselves
from the NAZI tradition
of taking plain sports
and twisting it to
political spectacle?
If I were someone
who gets mad at things [coughs]
ESPN would tweak me
more than Rush-bashers.
Are you kidding? Those
"poets" get grant money, and
can live on campus
where they can cuddle
with languid and bittersweet
english major types...
Except Speech Politically Not-correct
Mixing thought and entertainment is not to be tolerated. The left is coming to the aid of their core constituency - the non-thinkers. Some of them have no trouble rooting for the home team, but when it comes to choosing sides between the U.N. and the U.S.A., that game is a toss-up...too close to call.
Rush entered the coliseum and was eaten by the lions as the partisan crowd roared in approval.
Best of luck with finding suitable employment. I may have a job, but it stinks. I am laid off for 2-3 months of every year, that time coming up here in another 2 weeks, at which time I intend to look for something better myself. I'm not sure I can take another year of this one.
By the way, have you seen this thread? Perhaps you can offer a response to my post #20....if you have ever given it any thought. Maybe it is just my experience and not a widespread situation.
And evidently in some trouble, survival wise.
I just gave them a one time donation, and would encourage other Freepers to help keep them going.
(Uh, after you have become a monthly here.)
Excellent.
