I think he ought to say that he did at one time take pain killers, but that he gor them via prescription from his doctor, and that if there are any pills under his mattress the maid 'planted' them! LOL

Seriously though, he may not be able to say much about all this IF there is any type of investigation going on. I suspect his show will deal primarily with the ESPN story. I heard McNabb yesterday and it seems his biggest gripe was that nobody stood up for him! That says a lot, imho.

I'm appalled at some of the posts on FR about Rush. Some of you have already convicted him without hearing one shred of real evidence or hearing from Rush himself. Think people!!! Do ANY of the accusations sound like something Rush could or would do? None of it makes any sense whatsoever. He couldn't possibly have consumed that amount of drugs and be in the public eye as frequently as he was and is. And why on earth would he have sold them for monetary gain? If Rush has half the character I think he does his detractors are in for a big let down. His program is just minutes away. He can be heard on the net at wgst.com.

I'll bet the program set a ratings record yesterday during the first sixty seconds, then bottomed out when Tom Sullivan said, "We'll let Rush deal with all that when he returns..."

Help me out here. I'm listening to the WLS-Chicago internet stream from Mozambique, and suddenly it cuts in with his morning update on Iraq and the media. I'm not hearing anything that you all are. *sigh*

Mark my words...
At the end of all this (when the lawsuit dust settles), Rush H. Limbaugh will end up close to owning ABC, CBS, NBC or ESPN, etc.

The courts will and do punish for LIBEL and SLANDER. There is a heavy line between free speech and libel in the papers or slander on the radio or tee vee.

Rush has been slandered and libelled, imo. I hope he chooses to exercise ALL of his rights. A MAJOR hit in the pocketbook would be one of the few things that would make the LEFT back off a notch or two for a short time.

As usual, conservatives continue to grossly underestimate the evil depths LEFTISTS will sink to in order to move their agenda of total control over others, forward.

I love Rush Limbaugh for what he has done for conservative causes--whether he gave the left more ammunition or not concerns me not one iota. If he does have a drug problem, all I care about is that he gets help and cures himself.

We must all understand that even if this is completely proven untue on every single allegation, the left will have their issue anyway. Truth is never a consideration to libs, and human failing only deserves consideration when the human is a g**d*m liberal democrat.

So I say, the lefties can go F*** themselves sideways.

You're right. He has too options if the allegation are true (at least if he wants to have any crediblity). Admit it accept the full legal consequences and/or come out full blast for legalization.

Just for the record, since I'm DEEP in the Belly 0f the Academic Beast.......................

I left my Lab for a minute after the opening monolog and an esteemed colleague come up to me and said, "What is this about racist remarks Rush made on TV about McNabb?".

I said I had been following the story for the past 2-3 days and it was all over talk radio......had he?. He repeated his question, "What about these racist remarks". I started to try to go back and explain the situation about how the media would be very sensitive to attacks upon it. He said, "No, no, no. What does that have to to do with his racist remarks!".

I again started to try to explain when another of my esteemed academic colleagues, hearing the conversation, came out of his lab and said, "I heard Rush Limbaugh's a drug addict", making a motion as if he was holding a needle to his arm and injecting himself with heroin. I turned and and started to open my mouth when he continued, "Hey, but I'm not a hypocrite like some people who tell other people what they can and cannot do."

The twin conversations started to get heated and loud, echoing down the hallway, as I started to try to do two defenses at once, AND at the same time as they tried to talk over me. I finally said, putting my Walkman earplugs back in, "I gotta go and listen to the show".

The best comparison is not some sort of socialized experiment in Norway but the U.S. before 1914 where all drugs were legal. I don't think that anyone would argue that the drug problem (clogged prisons, turf wars, high use among students, etc) was worse then that it is now.

As to the taxpayers, you are right, they pay through the nose *right now* to maintain the largest prison population in the world. They also pay through the nose to pay the medical costs caused by the adulterated illegal drugs (much like they did for Bathtub gin in the 1920s). Drug prohibition is as a disaster both in terms of "helping" users and in saving money for the taxpayers.

You are right about one thing our culture has changed. The Nanny state has undermined freedom and responsibility. My solution is to have more freedom and responsibility not continue and expand the nanny state.

Let's see how many names have used so far: "dense" "libertine" "idiotic." I think that this approach speaks volumes about the strength of your case.

Hmmm, with the so-called tapes, emails and videos, what if Rush was a key part of a well-set-up law enforcement sting operation on the maid and her ring of dealers?

Such is the stuff novels are made of. I suppose I can dream, can't I?

Still......
