I think Huff is not a blip on the scene any longer.... Schwarzenegger is starting a 4 day bus tour with some 220 media people in tow, Davis is bringing Clinton again and Wesley Clark while McClintock is doing a block walk on Sat..... What Ms Huffington says at this point will mostly be wiped out by the activities of the other participants.....
Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, running to replace Gov. Davis in next week's historic recall election, is embarking Thursday on a bus tour that will reach Fresno late Friday. Schwarzenegger, the leading Republican candidate, will hold a rally Saturday morning in Fresno before heading to Modesto in the afternoon. A detailed itinerary had not been finalized Tuesday.
More than 250 people -- including about 220 media representatives from a dozen countries -- will tour the state in four days, beginning in San Diego and ending in Sacramento.
LOS ANGELES -- Fighting for his political life, Gov. Gray Davis is relying on some heavy hitters to help him keep his job.
Retired Gen. and Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark is expected to campaign with Davis in Los Angeles Wednesday.
Former President Bill Clinton will make the rounds with Davis Thursday in a return engagement.
This Saturday, October 4, 2003, the first ever Statewide Precinct Walk will take place in at least 49 out of 58 counties across California, touching nearly a million voters across every major population area. We need you to join us in this effort to get out the vote for Tom McClintock.

If Arnold dropped, McClintock would beat Bustamante by 56 percent to 37 percent. Ha.
Reminds be of the basketball player who said in an interview that "Michael Jordan and I combined for 62 points"... Leaving out the fact that MJ scored 59 of them...

Bustamante turns off African Americans, scares moderates, and ignores whites. Other than that, he has broad appeal.*L* Cheek beware poking tongue.
When I was a swimmer, I was told I'd be one heck of an individual medley-er if only I could do better at butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle (crawl).

Where were these talk-show hosts, the 2002 Simon campaign operative asks, when "moderates sat on their hands"? The talk show hosts and other noted conservatives are as star-struck as schoolgirls over Arnold. Obviously, if it was really about the politics, they'd have been just as strident for Simon to beat Davis last time.

A frustrated Bill Simon volunteer from last year's campaign writes me "outraged" at the "outrage" expressed by conservative talk-show hosts who harp on McClintock's intransigence. Where were these talk-show hosts, the 2002 Simon campaign operative asks, when "moderates sat on their hands"? Had the party united behind Simon, he argues, Simon would have won "even with all our mistakes." Did you ever see Congressman David Dreier, he asks, "admonishing everyone to unite behind Bill"? Even so, this Simon loyalist tilts Arnold: "Arnold's best move is to disregard Tom and move ahead."
No particular comment, just wanted to highlight some insights into California GOP "unity," that many of our resident "unifiers" will likely ignore.

Looks to me from the CA vote totals in 2002 that GOP moderates showed up and voted for Simon. Considering that the 10 point registration advantage the Dems had was closed quite a bit in the final tally, it appears that there was a party line vote among the Dems and Reps, and that the independents trended GOP, but not in the numbers necessary to win.
YOU HAVE TO APPEAL TO THOSE INDEPENDENTS TO WIN. The Simon campaign failed to attract them, despite Davis' high unfavorables.
