The Detroit Tigers went out as winners.

The Tigers avoided the 1962 New York Mets' modern-day record for losses, finishing their best six-game stretch of the season with a 9-4 victory Sunday over the Minnesota Twins.

The Mets could have lost more. They didn't play 2 rained out game because it meant nothing in the standings. Unfortunatley they weren't much better this year either.

LET'S GO METS!!!

Their avoiding of the record is much like Michael Strahan obtaining the sack record vs. Favre - if the Twins were not so concerned about avoiding injuries and giving their players a rest before playing the Yankees, they probably would've swept them (like they did in all but one series going back to last year). Instead, we get hardly any starters playing or even going beyond 5 innings, and we have relief pitchers in there who won't even get off the bench in October.

Yeah, I'm mad - I would have loved to see the Tigers get their rightful place in history.
