Planned Parenthood's Latest Casualty
The American Prowler ^ | 9/23/2003 | George Neumayr

Planned Parenthood's website offers a question-and-answer section on aborting fetuses with RU-486. "When can I have sex again?" is one question. Planned Parenthood's answer: "…one week after the abortion." The site also offers a few breezy reminders, such as: "It's important to remember that choosing medical abortion means that you will need to visit your clinician's office more than one time."

That is, if you are still alive. Holly Marie Patterson didn't make her second visit. The California teen recently died after taking RU-486 at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Northern California. She died from "a massive infection caused by fragments of the fetus left inside her uterus," which "caused her to go into septic shock," reports the Associated Press, paraphrasing the account of Patterson's father.

Risks to teens' bodies, particularly their lungs, usually concern liberals. But abortion, which does violence to two bodies, isn't a health risk they will announce to teens. Eric Schaff, chair of the National Abortion Federation, casually tells the Associated Press that RU-486 is less dangerous than aspirin.

The liberals who tell the Holly Pattersons that smoking may kill them won't offer the slightest warning about abortion. They have taught teens to equate Philip Morris with evil profiteering. But Planned Parenthood, a public-health menace that profits wildly off death and disease, gets no scrutiny. Since 1977, Planned Parenthood has performed 3,019,559 abortions while raking in nearly $1 billion from those abortions, reported the American Life League this year.

And American taxpayers subsidize this lucrative industry of death. Planned Parenthood, whose president makes over $350,000 a year, has received "almost $2.5 billion in government money (since 1987)," according to the American Life League.

Patterson is Planned Parenthood's latest casualty in its grim history of malpractice. In 2002, an abortionist at a Los Angeles Planned Parenthood clinic punctured the cervix of Diana Lopez. The 25-year-old bled to death. Planned Parenthood didn't report her death to the state until six days later, according to the Sacramento Bee. In 2001, reports the American Life League, a Yugoslavian immigrant successfully sued Planned Parenthood after one of its hacks performed an abortion so ineptly the child came out sans two limbs.

This is a ghastly racket teens like Patterson should be nowhere near. Planned Parenthood knows that RU-486 can fail on them, as former abortionists have acknowledged. But RU-486 means even more money for them, not because it is more expensive than a surgical abortion, but because after its frequent failure women have to pay for the more expensive clean-up surgical abortion.

On its website, a hint of this appears. Planned Parenthood asks, Who can choose medical abortion? and answers, "You may choose medical abortion if you are up to 63 days pregnant. But you must agree to have a surgical abortion if the medical treatment fails."

The "medical treatment" failed in Patterson's case. Had the fragments of the fetus not killed her, Planned Parenthood would have performed a surgical abortion on her and pocketed more money.

But now it may pay. Patterson's father didn't learn of his daughter's visit to Planned Parenthood until after she died. "What's disturbing is these young couples, they are relying upon what they think is good solid info, and relying on what they think is a supportive network telling them everything is OK, " he said to Associated Press. "I would have said, 'You know what, they don't know everything. Let's get more information.'"

Planned Parenthood will cite its right in California to counsel teens horribly behind parents' back. That may work this time. But as these cases mount a parental backlash against Planned Parenthood is inevitable. While it has held itself out as a surrogate parent, it has been operating as a despicable profiteer.

Woe to anyone associated with Planned Parenthood

unless they are preaching and pleading that those within repent

or face God's harshest wrath for the murder of the innocent babies.

More than all the casualties in all the world in the wars in the 20th century,
that's how many innocent American babies have been murdered on our watch.

Have mercy, Father,
and show us where we may make a difference, for your glory.

I would like to get behind this father who lost his daughter and didn't even know she was pregnant and seeking services. Denying parents the right to know when their CHILDREN are undergoing a medical procedure is so ghastly and incomprehensible to me I can barely choke down it is legal to not inform them.

I wonder, do you know this man's address or have more info about him or should I go to American Spectator?

Imagine, for one second, how you would actually feel if your child died because of a medical procedire performed upon them without your input, or knowledge. HORRIFIC!

This nightmare had to stop. And for an organization like Planned Parenthood to NOT REPORT a death due to a punctured cervix (the victem BLED to death) in the other death cited above, well, THAT IS SO WRONG IT BEARS LEGAL ACCOUNTABILITY>

This horrific PC organization that deals in murder CRUSHES families with their ability to go behind the parents back. Heck-it is frequently reported that PP doesn't even REPORT when underaged pregnant children come in for abortions. THAT IS RAPE going unreported.

Great article Nick.

I have often wondered which author was more correct about the future: George Orwell as in 1984 with is prediction of worldwide totalitarian regimes like Communism, or as Huxley wrote about in Brave New World. A world where pursuit of pleasure, meaninless, selfishness, and ultimately nothingness produced hollowed shells of humans beings, like crumbling insect skins dried out on on the tree branch.

I think it was Huxley.

I don't know, but we should find out. Starting later this month, or next month, signatures will be collected in California to put a parental notification law initiative on the ballot.

And liberals like it that way. Abortion is their dirty little secret for sweeping unwanted babies under the rug ...

I read a few years ago that morbidity and mortality for abortion is not reported the same way that it is for other surgical procedures. Such as the death certificates listing infection or hemorrhage as cause of death but not mentioning that the patient had an abortion a few days beforehand. Can anyone link me to a source to this info?

Finland did a study a several years ago and found the abortion M&M was really substantial. Doubt we could even DO a similair study here. You couldn't even find the facts. Talk about a quagmire.

When a school nurse cannot even give a child an aspirin without parental consent, it is an abomination of liberalism that the same school nurse can legally direct a minor to an abortionist or even take the girl there without parental consent. THAT is the legacy of democrat control of courts and the writing of laws. And the Pubbies complicit in this abomination ought be removed from office as well. Planned Parenthood (aka Serial Killers 'R' Us) is the protect spawn of democrat power and the 'choice to kill the unborn' as an enlightened social policy. It is time for them to go ... we all know where.

Heard on the local news today (and read a gushing sickening article in the local paper also) about a Planned (un)Parenthood+county effort here to air graphic condom ads on TV, aimed at teenagers. Supposedly Western Europe has much lower rates of teenage pregnancy and STDs than the US, and their reasoning is the graphic ads and "more explicit" sex ed than in the US. I find that hard to believe. For one thing, no one ever cited any figures about how many teenagers in W. Europe are sexually active. If they aren't s. active, then obviously they aren't going to get preg. or get STDs.

Planned Parenthood is Hitler-esque eugenics and the evil Margaret Sanger who started it thought Hitler was a visionary.

I could be mistaken, but I could've sworn I've read articles about what a huge problem they have over there with teen pregnancy and STDs. I wish I could remember where I read them though.

The only information I've had the misfortune to read is the local news, apparently some local people - county, I think plus PP fiends - went to Europe to "study" why the teenagers there weren't getting knocked up and diseased as much as in the US. The local newspaper is disgustingly liberal and the only radio I can get in this little valley is (gack!) NPR, which I can only stomach a teeny bit once in a while.
So who knows what the truth is. But I know for dam' sure that teaching teenagers plumbing and condoms with no moral absolutes does not help them make good life choices.
BTW, the "news" I heard/read also said that in Europe teenagers aren't "told what to do" - since that is demeaning, they're left to be independent about their choices. Meaning, of course they're going to rut like animals. As though dependent adolescents in high school shouldn't be guided and monitored in their sexual behavior.
I feel very sorry for teenagers now, especially the ones without good parents.

Planned Parenthood's website offers a question-and-answer section on aborting fetuses with RU-486. "When can I have sex again?" is one question.

Well golly, when one is killing another human being that really is the most important thing, isn't it?

That could very well happen in, for instance, Florida where children do not have to have parental input anymore to have an abortion. Or the school system in Rosedale (Rosewood?) California where kids can go to the doctor and the school will not notify parents.

Privacy trumps safety anymore.

If I weren't a Christian I'd think it was Anthony Burgess' novel Clockwork Orange. Even more depressing, if you think about it. Of course, for those Left Behind, the end will be a nightmare no matter what.
