Not sure what to make of this article. All this is old news and does not reflect the good interactions between US Marine and allied troops with local Shia. For the first time in years people in the towns and villages of Shia Iraq are getting much needed improvements in their local infrastructure. All this in Karballa and Nafja is power plays between religious leaders. When all is said and done the Shia leadership knows that lying low and working with US will get them all they want.

As you imply, we really can't see what is going on. The reporters have such a narrow focus and, quitely obviously, are not going to tell us what it is really like to be there. They are so damned opinionated that they are pretty bad reporters.
