That's one thing I don't get about the paleo-cons.
They say that America's sovereignty is absolute and is not to be compromised, no matter who it annoys in the world.
Except, of course, that we should renounce our sovereign right to engage in any international intercourse with Israel, because it annoys the Arabs.

Roberts is full of it - as usual.
Okcing over Iraq had a lot of reasons, and there still have been no convincing explanations about Mohammed Atta's chat with a Mukhabarat agent by the name of Ahmed al-Ani in Prague, or that airliner at Salman Pak...
We know there were connections between Iraq and al-Qaeda in the 1990s. We know they both have beefs with us centering around the 1990-1991 crisis in Kuwait. We know they have two common enemies.

Except, of course, that we should renounce our sovereign right to engage in any international intercourse with Israel, because it annoys the Arabs. I don't know what the definition of the paleo-con is supposed to be, so I won't try and speak for them. That having been said, the desire isn't to renounce international relations with Israel, just not to annually give them billions of U.S. tax dollars worth of military hardware (in concert with Egypt, etc.) in an effort to buy peace. Doing so has made us the enemy of people we don't give a fig about, and certainly didn't set out to make enemies with. Their response has been to attack us. Like I said, GW warned about this, and he was remarkably prescient. Not that most would know it, schooling is poor, and most would consider our nation a democracy.
