Are you saying that the husband's actions are somehow predictable or understandable in this case, given what his wife did?

Yes, I think they both are... Responses that were unfortunately predictable here. I could hear them when I read the story. Responses that are missing the perspective that would make them understandable.

The moral to the story is it that it is never smart to yank anyone around by the heart. People do crazy stuff when their hearts are broken. But that doesn't get him off the hook in any regard.

Seems like a few people here want to attribute a share of responsibility to his wife, for her infidelity. I think that's a gross and shameful distortion of where the blame really belongs.
