Tomorrow should be a day where we remember and remind ourselves why we are doing what we're doing, what we *should* be doing and aren't, and just who our enemies really are.

No fuzzy words of reconciliation. The hell with reconciliation. Let us remember and let us steel ourselves to what we have to do.

Show the pictures. Show the video.

NEVER FORGET.

I shall commemorate the anniversary tomorrow as I did last year by going to Mass and praying for the souls of those who passed and their families. God bless them and keep them all. Semper Fi

What is required is a steady, unostentatious stoicism, made up out of absolute, cold hatred and contempt for the aggressors, and complete determination that their defeat will be utter and shameful

Sweet!

the posturing loons all concentrated on a masturbatory introspection about American guilt

There is a simple solution to a tattered flag on display. Replace it.

I'm marking the day by walking the seven miles from my home in midtown to my job just east of Ground Zero.

Up before sunrise to allow enough time. Straight down Sixth Avenue, where the gaping hole that barbarian animals slashed in my sky will rise before me the whole way.

In the evening I'll walk the seven miles home, as I have done before, not looking back, my eyes instead fixed upon the beauty and brilliance before me, the genius and honor that is America, the kindness and hope of a shining city, the testament of hundreds of years, tens of millions of people, billions of acts of creation and contribution.

What I can't foresee, what I haven't planned, is what might come forth in the eight hours in between.

The time to commemorate the fallen is, or always has been, after the war is over.

a simple reason: How will it look when the effort tapers off? There's nothing more dispiriting than a drooping and neglected flag and nothing more lame than the sudden realization that the number of them so proudly flourished has somehow diminished.

I think Mr. Hitchens has over-thought what is an emotional response. He is saying to not commemorate 9/11 because we'll feel worse when we stop?

Remember 911 now and forever. Of course energy starts to drain away a little after the first anniversary, it happens in everything, but that must and should be replaced by a desire to defeat our enemies! After Pearl Harbor was attacked on Dec 7 1941, every anniversary afterward became less and less important compared to the increasing importance of Victory over our enemies .. UNTILL, in 1945 the great celebrations of Victory were born from the womb of Courage, Determination, Patriotism and many other great traits.
Almost as important a reason is to battle for the minds of the electorate, that is being bombarded with attacks from the democrats who blame the President with worthless arguments of " Where are the WMD's, wheres Osama, Saddam, wheres the connection to this and that....". This can be easily countered with just one phrase - 911. You see, if we preach the truth, it will win through. And the truth is that we cannot afford to WAIT to discover the connection between the Islamic Terrorists and the the last 911 nor the next 911! The clock is ticking, many countries are building nuclear capability; when that time comes, it will become true that the bigger they are the harder they fall.....AND WE ARE THE BIGGEST ONE ON THE BLOCK.
