Johnny Depp Says U.S. Is Like a 'Dumb Puppy' By REUTERS

Filed at 7:48 a.m. ET

BERLIN (Reuters) - Hollywood star Johnny Depp said on Wednesday the United States was a stupid, aggressive puppy and he would not live there until the political climate changed.

The 40-year-old actor, who stars in the ``Pirates of the Caribbean,'' told the German news magazine Stern he was happier staying in the south of France with his wife, the French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis, and their two children.

``America is dumb, it's like a dumb puppy that has big teeth that can bite and hurt you, aggressive,'' he said.

``My daughter is four, my boy is one. I'd like them to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out,'' said the star of the off-beat films ``Edward Scissorhands'' and ``Dead Man.''

Depp slammed George W. Bush's administration for its criticism of French opposition to the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

``I was ecstatic they re-named 'French Fries' as 'Freedom Fries'. Grown men and women in positions of power in the U.S. government showing themselves as idiots,'' he told Stern.

It's says "wife" but I don't think they are married. I think that he or she said that they wanted to wait until the kids were old enough to enjoy the wedding.

Do these idiot actors realize that in their ideal world of socialism they would have no career?

I'm not claiming to be any sort of expert on socialism/communism, but I once heard a talk show host going on about Hillary's favorite form of communism, which is marxist-leninism apparently.

According to that way of thinking, the "elite" aren't the ones to live lives of sujugation and poverty, only the rest of us. The "ruling classes" get all the perks that the rest of us work to give them.

So Johnny D and George C and the rest of them would get to hold onto all the trappings of wealth if Hillary and her ilk get their way.

``America is dumb, it's like a dumb puppy that has big teeth that can bite and hurt you, aggressive,'' he said.

Definitely not a "brain drain" here....

Wonder what he thinks of French and German efforts to purge english words from official documents.

Probably he thinks about it the same as the movement to keep the Spanish language out of America? Seriously, I doubt he cares. The French are fighting a losing battle on that front anyway- we invent too many new things and name them for them to keep up with getting rid of them. I hadn't heard that the Germans were actually trying to purge English words from the language though. I read an article yesterday where the Germans had noted that their language was being overrun by English words but didn't realize they had gone so far as to mandate it by law like the French have.

"Hard to do in France."

Well, FYI, the U.S. Embassy in Paris, France,

(4th Floor 2, rue St. Florentin 75001 Paris Tel: 33 1.43.12.25.55 Fax: 33 1.43.12.47.52 email: irs.paris@irs.gov)

has federal government personnel stationed there full-time in the employ of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). It is not difficult for them to track Mr. Depp down in France and deliver in person or by courier registered, the necessary IRS documents directing him to report to the American Embassy Paris IRS Unit for 'questions' about his tax returns.

Failure to comply is a federal crime. Mr. Depp can be slapped into handcuffs at JFK the minute he returns to puppy soil for refusing to appear or reply in France. "Respondez vous, s'il vous plait."

I think the US Administration has the balls to do it. As well they should.

Aigles ver le haute! Eagles up!

I have some respect for the guy because he really moved out.

I don't. He remains an American citizen, working in America for American money, and only lives in France because he can afford to do so thanks to money handed to him by stupid American consumers. (France wouldn't allow him to live there if he had to work in France to make ends meet, because they won't let foreigners (except other EUnuchs) take jobs from French citizens. Depp is the lowliest of hypocrites.

I look forward to seeing his kids entering rehab by age 13 ... if they don't kill themselves first.

How erudite. What a command of the language, reasoning, intellect. This statement is akin to "You Big Stinky," or "Nanah unh," or even "You suck."

What he said sounds a lot better in French

His wifey may have to don the burqua soon, the way France is going. And all the new cultural events in France--maybe he can attend a very chic synagogue-burning--

When the Muslims in France start rising up and attacking all things Western (especially American), guess who's going to be one of the first ones strung up from a lamppost, Johnny? Here's a hint: It ain't gonna be your wife.

The government didn't pass a law calling them Freedom Fries, independent business owners did this. The same sort of business owners that removed French Whine from their menus.

The US government may not have officially recognized a boycott of all things (perceived) French but offices in this same government have seen fit to celebrate homosexuals (a sex practice). That's loonier to me than this.

I confess that I have enjoyed Depp in the past. My wife thinks he's a doll...although a bit dim.

I just wish he'd shut up, I'm running out of actors I like that I can bear to watch.

As for living in the South of France, I'm sure that's fun for now and shacking up with Vanessa Paradis and procreating babies sounds fun to any male.

Hell, I'd like for Mrs Wardaddy and I to have a Tuscan Villa while we're at it but I would never turn on my country and our Constitution. I was an ex-pat for many years and particularly when folks found out I was from Mississippi, I had lots of "splaining" and defending to do, but in the end these foreign nations who exploit our faults usually have worse faults of their own swept under the rug.

Depp has a dry wit and is a good actor but he is ignorant and emotive like many in the creative arts...shame.
