Yes, if they'll let you. Perhaps they have a liquor license, and can bring you something from the bar.

The effect will be best felt late in the meal, when you're really feeling the pinch. Brandy is a traditional finish to a large, heavy meal, and this is why.

Oh, yes, I forgot one last piece of advice: if the waiter offers you a "wafer-thin" mint, TURN IT DOWN.
