God will destroy America, says Hamid Gul ( Retired Pakistan General )
Daily Times, Pakistan ^ | August 30, 2003 | Khalid Hasan

WASHINGTON: “God will destroy the US in Iraq and Afghanistan and wherever it will try to go from there,” General Hamid Gul, identified as “strategic adviser” to the MMA, was quoted saying on Friday.

Gen Gul, known for his colourful language and what many consider “imaginative theories,” went on to declare, “The Muslim world must stand united to confront the US in its so-called war against terror which is in reality a war against Muslims. Let’s destroy America wherever its troops are trapped.” If President Pervez Musharraf concedes President George Bush’s demand to send 15,000 Pakistani peacekeeping soldiers to Iraq, it would amount to “political suicide,” according to The Washington Times.

The report alleges that jihadi organisations are once again actively recruiting in the name of ending US aggression in the two countries where US forces are battling Iraqi and Afghan terrorists. Gen Musharraf is conceding ground to the extremists now crowding the Pakistani government. Anyone who tries to crack down on extremist activities is told to stop, says the report by Arnaud de Borchgrave. According to him, “The latest example came in Balochistan where the governor, Gen Qadir Baluch, a former corps commander in Balochistan, attempted to curtail anti-US demonstrations called by the MMA. The president asked Gen Baloch to back off while Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) negotiated with the MMA. Gen Baloch flew to Islamabad to confer with Gen Musharraf. The president urged him to follow the new rules or resign, which he did.”

The Washington Times claims that the new governor, Awais Ghani, a former federal minister of labour and religious affairs, has proven to be “a pliant instrument that heeds the advice of ISI and lets the MMA (now derisively known as Musharraf-Mullahs-Army) consolidate its hold on Balochistan’s regional government. Pakistani moderates are shocked by Gen Musharraf’s appeasement of the religious extremists who are now in charge of the province under the guidance of Gen Gul and his former ISI colleagues.” Borchgrave writes that Quetta, the provincial capital, is now a “vast privileged sanctuary for former Taliban officials and their fighters.

Had to laugh at the general's observation that a war on terrorism is the same as a war on Muslims. Now, why is that, I wonder?

God won't need to, we're doing that ourselves. Besides, haven't we banned God?

America's FREEDOMS are contageous. The extreme Muslim
leaders are fearful that if the taste of FREEDOM spills over, the well of oppression runs dry and there will be
not enough repression to go around.
Where will they go for replenishment? Maybe Hammas?
May God Continue to BLESS AMERICA, her TROOPS and her
PRESIDENT!

We've been on the wrong side of the fence for way too long. I'd much rather support India than Pakistan. The Pakistani people seem to be a much more hostile, violent, backwards, hateful, and crazy. Hell, they don't even make good cab drivers.

Muslims can't tolerate freedom...thats the number reason they hate America. We offer religious freedom, economic freedom, civil freedom, and even freedom of speech. Ossama Bin Ladin, can't tolerate any of these things...neither can the Taliban. This is why we are at this point. We stand for freedom...the absolute Muslims stand for something very different.

General Hamid Gul's beef with America has a personal dimesion.

This interview with Arnaud de Borchgrave back in Sept. 2001 should make that plain :

Quote

Q: What turned you against America?

A: Betrayals and broken promises and what was done to my army career.

Q: And what was that?

A: President Ishaq Khan, who succeeded Zia ul-Haq after his plane was blown out of the sky, wanted to appoint me chief of staff, the highest position in the Pakistani army. The U.S., which by then had clipped ISI's wings, also blocked my promotion by informing the president I was unacceptable. So I was moved to a corps commander position. As ISI director, I held the whole Mujahideen movement in the palm of my hands. We were all pro-American. But then America left us in the lurch and everything went to pieces, including Afghanistan.

The U.S. pushed for a broad-based Afghan government of seven factions and then waved goodbye. Even in the best of democracies, a broad-based coalition does not work. So we quickly had seven jokers in Kabul interested in only one thing - jockeying for power. The gunplay quickly followed, which led to the creation of Taliban, the students of the original Mujahideen, who decided to put an end to it.

See his comment on who he thinks was responsible for 9/11 in the interview. No surprises, "Mossad and its accomplices" and later modified to "Mossad and its American associates".

The problem is not that he has some strange notions, but that he is influential.

While not openly admitted so far, I expect I could agree with the general that we are at war with islam--a war started by them.

The muslims wage terror in the name of their faith, so we defend ourselves against those that attack, or are plotting and planning to attack.
