Special election set for seat of Rep. Carassas, who resigned

TALLAHASSEE A special election was called by Gov. Jeb Bush on Wednesday to fill the House seat left vacant when John Carassas, R-Belleair, resigned to head Attorney General Charlie Crist's Tampa office.
Carassas resigned in late June.
Bush said the special primary election for House District 54 would be held Sept. 9, with a special general election to be held Oct. 7.
The districts runs from Clearwater Beach to St. Pete Beach along the Pinellas County coastline.
Carassas, a former city attorney in Clearwater, was first elected to the House in 2000, Carassas was most notable in the Legislature as an ardent supporter of the state's open records laws, voting against nearly every attempt to close off records to public inspection.
Aahhh! Thank you. Special PRIMARY election 9/9 and GENERAL special election 10/7.
It still doesn't state in what capacity he's working in Crist's office. Hmmm. I can't find anything on Assistant Attorney General.
If Carassas is a champion of "open records", it would stick in his craw (sp) that a Judge talked to him about his angst over Gov. Bush.
Why is this matter turning into an episode of Dallas? This could so be a movie but I'm slightly off topic.
Well, it appears he's in my district and he's still on the job. No wonder they listened to me. I have no idea who's campaigning to fill his seat. They aren't running a very good campaign if they aren't doing ads yet.
