Who knows. Republicans have a great history in California of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. So stupid...

The miserable Simon campaign that let Davis get reelected is not encouraging. Heaven help us if Cruz gets elected.I'd be begging for Davis to come back. Yikes!

Totally agree. The conservatives in California have not learned from their fellow conservatives in states like Texas and Florida. If anything, California has become even more liberal because of the Cal GOP's tactics. It's not just snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, it's snatching catastrophe from the jaws of victory.

Veronica.

I was willing to give McClintock a chance. THEN I saw him on Fox News Live today (Sunday after noon with Tony Snow) --

All McClintock did was BASH, over and over and over, every Republican in California going back 15 years. He bashed Wilson. He bashed US Rep. David Dreier, he bashed the Schwarznegger advisors, all of them. He bashed ALL Republicans who don't think exactly like himself.

Yet he refused (or didn't) to bash Cruz or Davis for some reason.

That is not the type of Republican that will attract many friends or supporters. Is he a tough conservative? Yes. But he is way too abrasive, and seems obsessed with slamming fellow GOPers than the Dems.

I think McClintock has lost sight of the real political enemy in this race.

Actually, liberal Republicans have a great history of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. In fact, that term was first used in reference to the liberal Republican presidential candidate Thomas E. Dewey in his race against Harry Truman in 1948.

Later, it was applied to non-conservative Republican Richard Nixon when he lost to Kennedy, non-conservative Republican Gerald Ford when he lost to Carter, non-conservative Republican George Bush I when he lost to Clinton . . . see a pattern here?

You don't? How about in the New York Senate Race, when Giuliani was the moderate who would beat Hillary?

Do liberal Republicans serve any other function in life other than to keep conservative Republicans from running in elections?

My theory:

Run Arnold as Governor

Put in McClintock as Lt. Gov. (thus asking him to withdraw from the race)

That should keep everyone happy!
