Statement on the withdrawal of candidate Bill Simon
Senator Tom McClintock today released the following statement:
I am genuinely sorry that Bill Simon is dropping out of the race. He offered a perspective to the debate that will be missed. But his decision to withdraw intensifies my resolve to stay and fight.
At stake in this campaign, is the future of California - and that decision belongs to the people of California and must not be left to the country club back rooms. If the most qualified candidate must defer every time a celebrity or a millionaire casts a longing eye on public office, weve lost something very important in our democracy, and its called merit.
They said that War Admiral couldnt be beat and shouldn't have to run a race against the likes of Seabiscuit. Let me assure everyone that I am one horse that is in this race to the finish line.

"Hoping to test what may be a new climate of compromise surrounding illegal immigration, U.S. Rep. Howard Berman (D-Mission Hills) plans to introduce legislation today to offer legal status to illegal-immigrant students who want to attend college."

Funny thing is, Berman arranged to have large numbers of hispanic surnamed voters gerrymandered out of his district before the last election so he could hold on to his seat.

Don't worry Tom, that idea is already in the works, and will be showing up on FR very soon! God I love this guy, somebody I can actually relate to.
FYI, I just contributed to my first ever political campaign a few minutes ago. $100 to Tom McClintock for Governor!

So, his conservative credentials at this point seem to be that he probably won't raise taxes, unless he has to.And of course he will have to, for the children.

Great info about who else that guy contributed to, mind if I borrow it?
p.s.

Well you can see what a real leader and life changer Arnold is, because Arnold is Pro 187 and was at their celebration get together weeks ago.
I am glad you pointed out what a leader Arnold is to everybody and that he is making a change on Perenchio.
If Mr 4% McC could have that kind of effect among the CA public, he could be elected by as early as 2012!

And an anti-227 leader.
Unz used California's liberal initiative process once before, in 1998, when he invested $752,000 of his own money in a $1.2 million campaign to end bilingual education programs in California. Passage of Proposition 227, English for the Children, by 61 percent -- following a campaign in which both political parties and all candidates for governor opposed the initiative -- raised Unz's political profile considerably and solidified his reputation as a maverick and a bit of a braggart. "Bilingual education has never worked in 30 years," he says evenly. "If I hadn't come along, it would still be there." Proposition 25 is partly motivated by Unz's experience in that campaign. In the final days before the election, Unz was nearly blindsided by a last-minute infusion of money used to flood the airwaves with hard-hitting television ads against his initiative. It wasn't until after the election that he discovered the effort was underwritten by A. Jerrold Perenchio, the conservative owner of the Spanish-language Univision TV network.

If Mr 4%
12% in today's LAT poll. Arnold's down to 22% and sliding.
