HAHAHAhahahaha...

Howard actually cheered for the Jets once. He was as annoying about Namath et al in Super Bowl III as he ever was about Miami. Not that he cared much about the Jets (he normally hates them). Seemed to think it was important to "put the AFL on the map", or something. Of course, he wasn't too bright back then (not that he's a whiz now). He supported Eugene McCarthy types in those days.

Yes, it was. Historically that Victory paved the way for the NFL-AFL merger (though it would have come eventually anyway I think) but Namaths stardom, and the fact that both leagues were competing for an even talent pool made it happen quickly.
