You so a big reason Reagan won was Carter was so obviously incompetent -- unlike Gray Davis? And in 1984, when Reagan won a second landslide, was that due to Carter's incompetence too?

Well he's either forgotten or he's trying to be Michael Savage lite.

So you are saying the number 1 rated personality in radio is trying to become the number 3 rated personality in radio? That doesn't go with your "in it for the money/ratings" scenario.

...any Republican office-holder was better than having a Democrat.

If this type of Republican strategery catches on, we will have a party FULL of saboteurs like jim jeffords, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, etc.

Listen Mark, I was a charter subscriber to The Limbaugh Letter and to Rush 24/7 and I seldom missed a minute of Rush's show, which was possible because I'm retired.

I know what Rush stood for then and what he stands for now, and I'm bitterly disappointed.

How's life in that strange alternate universe you live in?

I lived there for about sixteen months. I went to grad school there. The institution was liberal but the students weren't.

There are good blue collar, white collar, hard working conservatives in that state. I've even met a number of good freepers from there who won't roll over because the media says they should.

Oh, so Wilson was better because he had an "R" behind his name - all the while stabbing all the conservatives and the rest of the state in the back with the largest tax increase in history.

That alone makes your statement totally STUPID!!!

Tell me, what DO you believe in, now that you've dismissed everyone else as purists?

There's no better time to advance conservative principles than when they're most needed.

Nothing I can add to this. It's spot on!

Remember this is Day 9 of a two month campaign. Fear not, he is a good choice and assuming Arnold's mis-steps continue McClintock will be the next governor.

I haven't heard any conservatives say any of the above defeatist comments. Does anybody know who Rush is talking about?

Perhaps he's peen perusing the recall threads here at FReeRepublic. It wouldn't surprise me

I knew I liked you! And I agree about the Clinton machine working this site.

Bet they're amazed that conservatives aren't as easy to fool as liberals!!

Except in 2000. And the original reference was to Maine, not California. Good night.

I believe that a Republican needs to be governor of Californis in 2004 and that both Simon and McClintock are unelectable.

Abraham Lincoln said of Gen. George Sheridan "I used to think that a cavalryman had to be 6'4", but now I see that 5'4" will do in a pinch".

Well, since a conservative governor of California is out of reach then a moderate will have to do in a pinch.

When he got his implant and could hear again one of his first ordersof business was to repudiate Dubya and the GOP.

Well I'm just glad he got his hearing back. Getting a little tired of the 'rah-rah Republicans' choir from everybody at Fox, Hannity included. I stand for conservatism and not for a party. Did that for too many elections. Never again

Hey, I live here. We're not going to allow California to be destroyed to make a point. Vote the RATs out!! Never give up. Never surrender to a RAT!

I know, I know, I don't want to see California destroyed. I just wonder if the RAT legislators have too much power for even the most hardened GOP governor to overcome their constant march towards the edge of the cliff.

I hope there will be recall attempts made on RAT legislators after GrayDay is recalled. After all, why only toss out the figurehead when you can take down the greater evils as well?
