'The Man Show' = For Piglets
BushCountry ^ | 08/18/03 | Joseph Grant Swank

National Organization for Women will be proud. Their advertisement for males being dumb, drunk and depressing appeared on TV as THE MAN SHOW.

They’re lewd, loose and loony. They act out flatulence and then spark fun (?) at the exercise. One of their favorite pastimes is asking viewers whose butt crack is showing center stage. Is it that of a construction worker or a Hollywood celeb? Inquiring minds wanna know.

THE JERRY SPRINGER SHOW is old hat to THE MAN SHOW. But with the two of them gagging nationwide week after week, terrorists won’t have much to do in taking over the country. And Larry Flynt, for sure, will win the California governorship.

THE MAN SHOW is one loser but there will be those out there who’ll vote it a win win. No doubt.

The masculine gender is having a rough enough time of it lately without the help of this low-slinging display of piglet wannabes. After all, straight men are pictured as gay clones being taught how to lay down a new sofa, decorate a kitchen, and spruce up their limp wardrobes. Surely straights have no sense for fashion, art, balance. So gays have to mentor the laggards in how to get a life.

Now with THE MAN SHOW, the real men in this world with intelligence, manners and morality have pretty much been consigned to minority status. In time, real men will be forced to take to the streets, lobby their Congressmen, and grab tickets for Mars. There won’t be much room left for them in a real male world.

Joe Rogan and Doug Stanhope have outdone sensibility as "stars" of this latest pigsty. If any twosome know how to dish it, they do. But how long will brains in gear stand for this tripe? Sensible citizenry of the world, don’t hold your breath. Recall that WWW is still very much with us.

THE MAN SHOW slops it in your face from minute one. It’s all downhill from then on. Men with any sense of manly graces and respect will cringe, lunging at the remote for a channel turn.

That twosome hanging out at the cameras have no wit, finesse nor cerebral content. They are coarse, corny max and coughing up phlegm from an old ER.

Yet Rogan announces that his show will be a hit — a "turnkey show." So there. It’s already in the bag.

Well, for those who really care about civilization, same will see to it that within their own confines, no matter how small, the likes of R and S don’t hang a hat.

Good luck, men of the planet. We’re being besieged; and this go-round it’s not by NOW. It’s our own turning on us.

Where’s a hangman’s rope when a person needs one?

I've never seen the show, because my cable system doesn't carry it, but this is one of the most poorly-written pieces I've seen in a long time.

If it's about the Man Show... it's supposed to be badly written... the guys had too many beers and watching girls jumping on trampolines... what do you expect?

If they could stack up and be harmful then they wouldn't be harmless. The failure of FX's show of the same theme (which actually started at the same time but Man Show was funnier... how FX didn't think to grab up The Fox I'll never know) shows there's a limited market and if there's "too much" of this stuff it self corrects. All Man Show represents is a half an hour a week that reminds men that we LIKE to belch and scratch ourselves and maybe check out some clevage once in a while, a little time for us to remember that nachos ARE a food group and that chick flicks really are the product of satan.

It's funny that half the discussions on this board that discuss gender roles are filled with people complaining about the feminization of the American male, rebelling against that is one of the basic ideas of The Man Show, and yet the same people complaining about feminization complain about The Man Show.

I pity that Swank guy...............

He was obviously born without a sense of humor.

He should go back to watching PBS, (I'll bet he even sends them money)

There is only one true "Man Show". All others are pretenders...

Apples and Oranges. They're both good shows.

More like Apples vs the rotting orange peels that litter the gay park where the "idea folk" for "The Man Show" hang around waiting for inspiration.

The Man Show is sheer entertainment............if this writer doesn't like it then turn the channel, don't talk about it or buy from their advertisers. It worked on Rosie and Ellen !

Nothin quiet like a tramp full of tramps wiggling their juggies for fun ! Great fun !

Stay Safe !

I've never been able to understand how everyone "got" Andy Kaufman's comedy but couldn't get Andrew Dice Clay or The Man Show. They're satires! We're supposed to laugh at them. Get it? And in laughing at them we're supposed to get a little insight into ourselves. Sheesh, get a grip, folks. Buy a clue.

Oh, and we're supposed to laugh at the people who hyperventilate about these things, too.

P.S. I do not assume that the poster of this article doesn't "get it," just that the original author doesn't.

It took this clown long enough to notice The Man Show (which I haven't watched since they lost The Fox anyway).

I so miss the Fox. He reminded me of a dear relative of mine who lived alone in an Airstream with his cigarettes, alcohol, and teevee.
