Let's just hope the GOP figures out that they can use the public condemnation of homoxuality to their advantage in 2004.

Looks like the radical homosexual activists (and their leftist accomplices) have finally overreached.
After years of gradually insinuating the 'gay lifestyle' into our culture, the activists got too bold.
The recent Lawrence decision, and the turmoil in the Anglican Church, have woken people up. And turned them off. Big time.

"Because America is a religious nation and the Bible specifically and unequivocally condemns this behavior."
I honestly do not think this is the entire explanation. I do not think one has to be a believer, in the Bible, or the Koran, or anything to see homosexuality as a deviency. No more than I think you have to be religious to be pro-life. A simple understanding of biology should be enough to convince anyone of the wrongness of these two things. And, of course, abortion is far worse than homsexuality, imho.

And you are absolutely correct! In fact, your statement is positively biblical.
"....that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse." - Romans 1

Of course not. But, you must understand that I'm talking in the context of homosexual 'civil' rights being equated to racial civil rights. It's a terrible insult to people of color that they are lumped together with a morally deviant group like sodomites. Ironically, surveys actually show that blacks and Hispanics are even more likely than whites to condemn homosexuality.
Nature itself tells us that homosexuality is wrong, unnatural and immoral, of course. Even still, most Americans hold a very high regard for the teachings of the Bible.

Further evidence also that Pew polling sucks. Their polls always show more support for liberal positions and candidates. Their polls are always out of line with other polls.

OK ...and if the same question had been asked in 1973 90% probably would have been opposed . In 2003 only 58% ...2020 I betcha the majority will be in favor ... Take it to the bank ...

"
As homosexuals flaunt their successful infiltration of the Episcopal Church..."
The homosexual community's infiltration infestation of the church, in order to undermine and destroy its authority, has been part of a well planned and well funded campaign that has been going on for years.
An excerpt from: The Overhauling of Straight America:
"While public opinion is one primary source of mainstream values, religious authority is the other. When conservative churches condemn gays, there are only two things we can do to confound the homophobia of true believers. First, we can use talk to muddy the moral waters. This means publicizing support for gays by more moderate churches, raising theological objections of our own about conservative interpretations of biblical teachings, and exposing hatred and inconsistency. Second, we can undermine the moral authority of homophobic churches by portraying them as antiquated backwaters, badly out of step with the times and with the latest findings of psychology. Against the mighty pull of institutional Religion one must set the mightier draw of Science and Public Opinion (the shield and word of that accursed secular humanism). Such an unholy alliance has worked well against churches before, on such topics as divorce and abortion. With enough open talk about the prevalence and acceptability of homosexuality, that alliance can work again here..."
As for the the homosexual community's opinion on marriage:
An excerpt from: In Their Own Words: The Homosexual Agenda:
"Homosexual activist Michelangelo Signorile, who writes periodically for The New York Times, summarizes the agenda in OUT magazine:
...to fight for same-sex marriage and its benefits and then, once granted, redefine the institution of marriage completely, to demand the right to marry not as a way of adhering to society's moral codes, but rather to debunk a myth and radically alter an archaic institution... The most subversive action lesbian and gay men can undertake --and one that would perhaps benefit all of society--is to transform the notion of family entirely." "Its the final tool with which to dismantle all sodomy statues, get education about homosexuality and AIDS into the public schools and in short to usher in a sea change in how society views and treats us."
An excerpt from: Homosexual Priests: A Time for Truth:
"The homosexual movement has a history of trying to claw its way into places its agenda doesnt belong, not for the betterment of mankind, but simply to legitimize and normalize perverse behavior. This is apparent in the all-too-common need of homosexuals to declare their sexuality rather than simply do the job they sign on to do.
This is extremely detrimental - first, it creates conflict with others as most believe homosexuality to be wrong, and it shows that the full efforts of the employed homosexual are not going towards performing the task at hand but largely to declaring their lifestyle. When it comes to serious concerns such as the Church, schools, and the Boy Scouts that involve our children, we cant take the risk of giving them this power to destroy the values we as parents try to instill, nor can we put our countrys welfare at stake by turning these pivotal foundational institutions and our military into homosexual social experiments.
The homosexual movement is marked by two major tendencies: the tendency to continually infiltrate all good aspects of society; and once they have achieved that, the tendency to destroy this good. Public education, the Boy Scouts, the military, and now the Catholic Church have been targeted, and all have been hurt by the effects of homosexuality. The media and the Church must break its silence towards this enemy. If they do not, the people themselves must rise up and expose it..."

I honestly do not think this is the entire explanation. I agree. Those promoting the cause find it easier to limiting the reaction to implied religious bigotry rather than a general socital, gut level disgust for their behavior.

I'll bet it was 27% in favor ten years ago.
I'll bet it was 17% in favor twenty years ago.
I'll bet it was 7% in favor thirty years ago.
Where is this all taking us?
Make no mistake about it.
The cycle of decay is in full swing. By 2015, the United States, in most jurisdictions, will welcome homosexual 'marriages'.
And further, Christians and other moralists opposed to such things will not even be able to open their mouths about it without fear of being jailed, sued, losing their job, and some more years down the line, one's very life perhaps.

It seems to me that the Gay movement was mistaken when they decided to go on this last series of major offensives - probably taken in by the Left's propensity for rigging polls to make them come out the way they want, then actually being stupid enough to believe the results. I would bet that if you checked out a lot of the polls they used, the best that could really be said is that the public was more apt to be tolerant of Gays, not supportive of their "rights" to be married or considered "normal". The backlash that is in the process of developing is the public stating it's real opinion instead of trying to be non-judgemental. The scary thing for me is that if the perverts had been more patient and waited a few more years, they may have pulled it off without so much as a whimper. Satan's minions are tenacious and canny, but not necessarily smart.

Those who have seen my recent posts know this issue really hits home. Our Christian school was divided by, not the admission of the children of a same-sex couple, but by the refusal to discuss homosexuality Biblically. Many of the parents at the school thought there was an "overreaction" by others who asked that there be a clear, written policy on how it would be discussed. In the weeks since this happened, the gay agenda has been all over the news and many of these "exceptionally" tolerant people have seen what happens when you just let your beliefs get pushed further and further away.
I think the challenge is finding liberals who understand that opposition to the gay agenda is an opinion that individuals are entitled to. My liberal brother seems to want to turn it into a hate crime every time we talk about it. He wants me to "justify" my beliefs as if I had to convince an aethist and could not use the Bible as a source.
To: No Dems 2004
Funny you should say that! There was a recent editorial in our local paper written by a black women who said she was tired of the gay movement hijacking years of civil rights history.
In addition, the Headmaster of the school I mentioned in the prior post, in trying to show how "sensitive" she is and how much more tolerant those who embrace the homosexual agenda are said to a part,"I don't know why you are so upset. You sin every day. You are a Hispanic married to a white man." Now where is that in the Bible??? Typical liberal.
