In his very first press conference Arnold stated "Everything will be provided for the people." He wants to bring back business so he can tax them for social programs. He wants to spend, spend, spend. Does this sound like a fiscal conservative to you?

damned straight A-R!
and charismatically speaking, mcC comes across visually as a wimp compared to Arnold. Visual matters in California more than any other state in the union.
California needs a "kick ass" type of personality, not a reasoned idealogue, policy wonk. Frankly Arnie projects levels of testosterone that drives the feminists and bow tie democrats into fits of hysteria and terror. They are peeing their pants over the likelihood that all programs that they have been drooling over for the last six years... are D.O.A., unless they can come up with the money to pay for it, that doesn't hinder businesses and resident's ability to survive.
"Arnold is going to starve children and kick out the old people," I can just hear it now.
... and when he does flex the political muscle, it will sweep some of them out of politics for life. Oh the humanity! Arnold is just so "unchristian"!!! He is obscene, angry and violent!
Sometimes we don't need a guy with a religious testimony. We need a guy with a ballbat and the testicles to swing it. LOTSA folks here will say Arnold won't have the balls to be effective, we shall see, eh?

The "real and true" conservatives who measure their virtue by the standard of how UNELECTABLE they are? Ouch! Boy, that's going to leave a mark.
The recall seems to have been about the thirty-five billion dollar deficit--not homosexuality, abortion, or "credentials".
Speaking of which, the team Arnold is assembling seems to have the kind of economic savvy necessary to straighten out the money mess.
And the majority of Californians and FReepers agree.

Probably not, but it's suicidal.

You really believe that Arnold will veto social programs?
After School programs? School lunches? Welfare? Health Care?
Environmental policies? Tax hikes?
He has never said anything like that and has said exactly opposite. Arnold said that the State must take care of everyone with everything.
Support Tom. Tom can get 35% - 40% easily with Conservative support. If it looks like Cruz might win in the end (he really has no chance) vote Arnold.

The recall wasn't about homosexuality, abortion, steroids, and who's a "real conservative"--It was about California's deficit is greater than that of the other 49 states combined.
Yes, the recall was about a 38 billion dollar deficit. However, Arnie's track record and the hiring of DEMOCRAT Buffet as a economic advisor tends to strongly imply that Arnie will not be succesful in solving the economic troubles of the state.

Anything for power, huh Pokey78 and MHGinTN??? We have the best conservative in the nation (Tom McClintock) running for governor...and you're crawling on broken glass for a Kennedy liberal. I've lived in California all my life...and I will fight for conservative principles. You guys would be great in a crisis. I'm sure your response is "Let's Surrender."
To: sinkspur
damn, I did not realize we were that far gone...
gasp... and I aint kidding.
Even New York?
Arnold will try to let them drill for oil and shut down the anti-fishing enviro nuts... that have ruined the west, and particularly the Northwest. Kulongoski will side with Arnold over that KNOWN wimp arse in Washington State.
God save the west.
That deficit thing, is really rather sobering... somebody pass me the bottle.

Thank you for your comments. The FREEPERS who support Arnold make me ill. Maybe ya all can support Ted Kennedy next...as long as he has an "R" after his name.

About says it all. LOL

Conservatives made the Recall happen - not moderates.
What percentage is the deficit (38 billion over TWO years) of the total revenues of the state?
Oregon has a much higher percentage of deficit and the legislators are still in session.
California can be fixed very easily, with Conservative leadership.
This is about getting rid of liberals, left or center left.

Issa was a big contributor to the recall but he did not start it nor did he create the 1.7 million signatures on the petitions. The recall was initiated in Northern CA.

This recall is about holding a lying politician/powergoon to responsibility for the horrific mess he's made of California's economy. This election isn't about conservative issues like abortion, or homosexual rights.
This election most definitely will depend on Illegal Aliens, count on it.
Cruz Bustamante is the racist La Raza face of the new California Democrat Party, and henchman Art Torres is right there with him, slamming Pete Wilson, and Arnold's vote for Proposition #187.
Illegals, and the money California spends on them, make up a huge chunk of our budget deficit. Genie's coming out of the bottle... complacent politicans watch out.
