Just re-reading this thread. Thanks- you actually read the column and had one of the more sane posts. I agree with about half of what Justin writes- he at least challenges me to think. Rice was pandering and her history was atrocious. We probably don't agree on much when it comes to foreign policy but thanks for addressing the actual text of the posted article.

Thanks. You're right. Justin is not one of my favs.
On the other hand, I think many here slather over Condi because she is a woman and black (and handsome) and conservatives feel a need to laud any minority that fits the PC bill and appears conservative.
I'm not too crazy about her pro-abortion views.

Some conservatives feel the same racial guilt as liberals do and feel the need to patronize mediocre rhetoric and sloppy thinking when it comes to black conservatives or Republicans. I bet Alan Keyes was doubled over with stomach pains after reading Condi's speech.
I didn't know she was pro abortion!

Indeed ...Keyes is stellar but unfortunately not electable.
Shame that I know of only a few truly conservative black women but can rattle off a dozen reliably conservative (well known) black males readily.
Would that it were different.

I met Keyes and his wife. At a 7/11 on the waterfront in Boston. He must have been staying at the Rowes Wharf hotel which was around the corner. I walked in and noticed him almost right off. I wasn't sure it was him because he has "greyed" a bit. I was behind him in line at the check out and asked if he was Alan Keyes. He said yes and asked my name. He was very friendly- introduced me to his wife (who is an Indian from India I think). I asked why he hasn't been writing a regular column? He replied that he was just finishing a book and that he would resume a column shortly. I wanted to ask him about his opinion on the current foreign policy of our nation but it was not the right place or time. That was 4 months ago. But he was very gracious.
I have had this fantasy that if Keyes were to be one of the House prosecutors during the Removal vote in the Senate against Clinton- he would have won a majority over with his force of speech.
