I have contributed to Mac Collins but am taking a hard look at Herman Cain. I want to know what he thinks of the patriot act.

Here is another person that a lot of people here would just write off to the Democrats if they saw him on the street.

I assume Mr. Cain is a Republican due to his assocation with Kemp and Forbes.

Thanks for the post. I liked this statement (looks like his motto):
"I only know one way to succeed...work for it!"

I hope Herman Cain wins the primary. The general election is going to be a real treat, especially if Thurbert Baker or Shirley Franklin is the Democratic nominee. The GA Senate race could feature a black vs. black match up. The Sunday morning talk shows won't stop talking about the Senate race until election day. Such a Senate race could spark an honest national dialogue on race relations.

Someone in my family had the opportunity to speak with Senator George Allen about GOP Senate prospects for 2004.
Apparently, they think Cain has a much better chance than some think and a lot in the party are getting behind him. The other candidates weren't even discussed--all the buzz is about Herman Cain.

Mr. Cain used to live in Omaha while running Godfather's. He's a very inspirational speaker and considered running for POTUS against W. Also has a classically trained voice. Heard him several times sing the National Anthem at sporting events.

Sounds too conservative for the modern Republican party.

"and that presents a dilemma for Democrats."
Dems have no dilemma at all marginalizing a conservative black candidate. He'll be called "not authentic" and worse.

Of course, Cain isn't assured of getting the GOP nomination. He isn't yet well known and his three opponents include the popular U.S. Rep. Johnny Isakson, whose record is as conservative as Cain's rhetoric. There are those who would disagree with nthe implication that Congressman Isakson is a "pure" conservative. His pro-choice positions have caused him to be derided as a "RINO" on another thread. That's overly harsh in light of his lifetime ACU rating of 84, and his 2002 rating of 98, but clearly he has some moderate/liberal quirks.
The Georgia Senate race should be decided in the GOP Primary, assuming the supporters of the Primary losers rally around the nominee. Let's hope that's the case.

For whatever it is worth, I support, and will vote for Mr. Cain. He's a good man.
For the dubious, kindly go to his website and read his own words.

Wow...from his website:
- People make better decisions about their lives than government
- People should not be penalized for working hard and trying to save
- People want more leadership and real solutions
- The current income tax code must be replaced
- The Social Security system must be restructured
- Heath care must be affordable and accessible for everyone
- A good education in America should not be negotiable
- We are the greatest country in the world and we must keep it that way

I would support the pro-life conservative Cain just to break the Dems monopoly on the black vote. Sorry Collins, I'm sure you're good too, but for the good of the party, we need Cain for the outreach!

Geez, what a conflict. I want to vote Democrat in the Primary for Al Sharpton (the Perfect Democrat), but I'd also want to vote Republican to advance Mr. Cain's prospects. Guess it all depends where Sharpton and Cain stand on primary day. 2004 is gonna be such fun!
