Glad you're with us, Pip! You and I are pretty close in age, however, I have always been a registered R and cancelled out your Carter vote. Wasn't a big Ford fan, but it was the lesser of the evils. I appreciate that he vetoed more bills than any prez in history. Other than that, he was pretty much a placeholder until we could get a REAL conservative in the Oval Office!
I could have never been a D (because of their principles and positions), but how much worse it must be for them today. I have to imagine that it must be horrible to be associated with the likes of Clinton, Condit, Kennedy, Springer, Flynt, Jackson, etc., etc.,

Hi, Lori!
love what you did with my "thoughts" or should I say "confessions"

Im afraid that is what I thought; do you know that I boycotted President Reagan the first year he was in office? But I was stunned and horrified when someone actually tried to assassinate him!
I wan't paying attention then, but did anyone in the media suggest that the CIA/FBI let him in to shoot President Reagan so he could generate a lot of anger and sympathy?
Do you suppose that if something like that happened today McKinney and her gang would suggest such a thing?

"I registered as a Democrat to vote for Carter..."
Tooters hangs her head and admits she voted for Carter, too,
And I suspect we were not the only ones in this forum that did!
Oh well, at least we came to see the light!

Mama_Bear, great presentation. Love the lined paper :-) Thank You for sharing your thoughts, Pippin. I know of many Ex-Democrats, and I am one of them. I am a proud Republican today. I registered to vote when I was in college, just thought registering Democrat was the way to go then. Once I became informed, read the issues, knew where I stood on issues, I knew I was not a Democrat. Never voted for a Dem President. I can totally relate to many of the words you have written.
Maggie, Nan and Cal, enjoy your late night tonight at the Finest. Diver Dave, make sure they behave themselves ;-)
Have a wonderful weekend all. I am off on another road trip :-) Looking forward to a weekend at home, a relaxing, do nothing weekend :-)
To all of our hostesses, thank you.
Colleen
