Conservatism as a disability

Liberal denial about all things conservative has passed the bizarre and arrived at the absurd.

The American Psychological Association's Psychological Bulletin has published a study of why conservatives are the way they are. The study was conducted by four researchers, who, according to a press release from the University of California at Berkeley's (UCB) media relations office, "culled through 50 years of research literature about the psychology of conservatism." (Two of the researchers are professors at UCB, which apparently remains imprisoned in '60s dysfunctionality.) The researchers conclude conservatives suffer from a disease or malady that makes them think the way they do.

Question: Can someone name me one right-wing conservative that has mass murdered millions of their own countrymen?

To name Hitler, Mussolini as right wingers just shows how clueless these people are but I'd bet their "definition" of a right winger is love of your country. If a document came out tomorrow that Stalin loved Russia they would lable him right wing.

So now homosexuality is the norm and conservatives are the impaired. It's time for the inmates to start running the institution.

Well... the Argentinian fascists and Pinochet racked up a hundredth of what you're looking for... I guess they don't make the cut, though.

Since when is a fascist the same as a conservative?

And Fujimori was just a dictator I suppose?

Pinochet embrassed captilism, sorta, but he hardly fits Burke's definition of conservatisim, i.e. right winger.

You know, the academe trolls are the ones who are disabled. I was jesting when I wrote the other night I should be locked up in the asylum. On second thought, the liberals are perfect candidates for it since they have these strange hallucinations about how other people think.

I doubt that many thinking and truly educated people in any nation would put any credibility in anything coming out of the professors at Berkeley. If there is a collection of misfits anywhere in this nation, it must be in that place. If I had a genie from whom I could make three requests which could be granted, I would ask that all academic professors have to leave their protected jobs for noninstitutional jobs in the public sector for at least five years. I could almost guarantee you that most could not make a decent living out of that environment. They want to throw out to the public just any kind of irrational idea and have it blindly accepted as fact. They have had their heyday and it is gone..The internet has enabled information to get to the masses and people are now thinking for themselves..One of the great things about information from all sources is that lies and misrepresentation of ideas are found out, eventually. To me, being conservative simply means that I am not going to give up the "tried and true" for a "pig in a poke." The testing of ideas and principles people live by is not different than the testing of a drug or medical procedure before it is used on the masses. These kinds of "studies" are valuable only in that they portray to the public the kind of thinking which is being fed to the captive student population in many universities.

These left wing extremists will do and say anthing that they think will further their agenda -- and that is sick.

Pinochet was a hero.

"Augusto, you...you...killed people?"

"Yes; but they were all bad."

They were: Cuba's select thugs, along with a bunch of homegrown, violent Marxist wannabees.

Now that's compassionate conservatism.

It is easy to understand their research once you understand that they way they drew lines around "conservative" was simply, "Anything evil is conservative."

The study I'd like to see is one that identifies which group has a better grasp of reality. A few years back, someone did a study and determined that depressed people often have a better grip on reality than their happier counterparts.

You know, there's really very little point in discussing all this until they come up with a medication to treat conservatism. ;-)
