There are only two ways to keep other nations from being an effective enemy. We can conquer them, buy them, or ignore them until the get a group big enough to defeat and conquer us.

The world is quickly forming into three groups. They are old Europe, China and its allies and the United states and our allies. The remainder, the socalled non aligned nations, will be the 4th would.

People who want us to withdraw from the world, are much like the isolationists of 80 years ago. They did not see Hitler and Japan coming until it was almost too late to defeat them. As it was WWII cost 50 million lives.

We almost lost WWII because the isolationists thought the oceans would protect us. They did not.

We have a couple of new generations who can't wait to stop paying the price of world leatership. They are into world followship. If that is your veiw, and you prevail, you had best learn to speak Chinese and get cosmetic surgery to make your eyes look Asian.

Unless of course you think being a chinese owned slavy would be fun.

We can't keep buying everybody. There's no profit in it.

Can any of the Democrats or Republicans in Congress or President Bush who will sign this bill tell me where specifically in the Constitution it authorizes Congress to allocate funds to give away to foreign governments?

There is a difference between being a citizen of the world and paying for our own destruction.

I hope our government can tell the difference, but am skeptical.

I hear all of your arguments against "isolationism" and for foreign engagement, etc. However, the Constitution simply doesn't authorize this stuff. Now, if you want to have that debate and convince enough people in order to amend the Constitution to allow foreign aid, then feel free to do so. Until then, this kind of stuff should not be allowed - it is illegal - it is not Constitutional.

You know, there are plenty of Americans who don't want our hard-earned taxpayer money given away like candy (many times to 3rd world dictatorships) who at the same time are not isolationists.

This is a complex bill of many parts.

Focussing on Afghanistan, we went in and quickly kicked ass and took names.

Now a section of this bill provides for building some things.

AFGHANISTAN

SEC. 523. Of the funds appropriated by titles II and III of this Act, not less than $600,000,000 shall be made available for humanitarian, reconstruction, and related assistance for Afghanistan: Provided, That of the funds made available pursuant to this section, not less than $150,000,000 should be from funds appropriated under the heading `Economic Support Fund'.

This could be a good thing, and the key is in the administration.

To adopt a laissez faire attitude let's us get back to the big-screen teevee, but the news might be more 911 oh shit.

I have always deplored diplomacy and would immediately close the State Department, moving all the money to DOD and all the people onto an ice floe towed to a sunny clime.

But we are wise to help those who help us, and also wise to dump them like a box of rocks if they bite us.

This is the carrot to the shock and awe stick.

Used wisely it will serve us, and unwisely, it will drain us.

Be advised China is everywhere, in every hemisphere, gobbling up "allies" [satellites] to use against us, the great hegemon, the main enemy.

War is inevitable, the sooner the better.

Note the many clauses excluding countries and providing presidential waiver.

This is a weapon.

Someone better tell the Bush administration to halt trade with the enemy.
