An assistant campaign treasurer for U.S. Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., was charged Tuesday with embezzling about $350,000 from the senator's re-election campaign fund.

Roger D. Blevins III, 32, who until last week was secretary for the New Castle County Democratic Party, was charged with interstate transport of stolen property in U.S. District Court in Wilmington. If convicted, Blevins faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Could be used as an excuse to not seek nomination, if he feels that the Democratic Party is not behind him.

Just another example of the type of unprofessional conduct by politicians and their staff. How could so much money be unaccounted for, and so easily slip out the door. Sorry, but the Dumbocrats will find it very hard to find a candidate, with clowns like Biden and his staff looking for the Democratic Party's nomination for the 2004 campaign.

Everyone please not that the author has no bias. He kindly did not mention that the guy was actually a right wing extremist hired by the RNC to infiltrate the Biden organization in order to destroy him financially and get dirt on democrats for Rush Limbaugh.

My thoughts eggzackly, I laughed - a staffer did to Biden what Biden has been doing to the U.S. for years.

The alleged theft nearly emptied the re-election account.

Not to worry. He'll steal more money from the liberal bottom feeders!

New Castle County Council President Christopher Coons said he was shocked and saddened by Tuesday's news. Coons said Blevins had been active in Delaware politics. "I'm upset," Coons said.

Why is it these Democrats never get mad....if someone had did this to me I would be pissed.....not saddened.

Biden

"I started thinking as I was coming over here, why is it that Joe Biden is the first in his family ever to go to a university? Why is it that my wife who is sitting out there in the audience is the first in her family to ever go to college?

Is it because our fathers and mothers were not bright? . . . No, it's not because they weren't as smart. It's not because they didn't work as hard. It's because they didn't have a platform upon which to stand . . ."

Kinnock (original)

"Why am I the first Kinnock in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? Why is Glenys the first woman in her family in a thousand generations to be able to get to university?

Was it because our predecessors were thick? Does anybody really think that they didn't get what we had because they didn't have the talent or the strength or the endurance or the commitment? Of course not. It was because there was no platform upon which they could stand."

For his defense the aide can just say that he read Hillary Clinton's book and was so inspired he took the money to invest in cattle futures. Had he been allowed to continue with the venture it would have meant that the Sen. Biden would never have had to do any more fundraising for as long as he lived.
P>Alas, these things take time you know.

The late Senator Paul Tsongas was getting up a head of steam that could have pushed Clinton aside early in the primary season in '92 when it was discovered that his main money man went off with most the funds being saved for the strategic moment.

Magistrate Judge Mary Pat Thynge assigned the federal public defender's office to represent Blevins

This guy steals $350,000.00 and he needs a public defender? What was he spending that money on, Lotto tickets?

Blevins has a great excuse, however. He needed the money to try to maintain a life style on a par with most of the union officials that he was courting on Biden's behalf.
