>>That's why the need a mother and a FATHER<<

Amen to that!!!!
My older daughter was in a classroom of chaos. Out of 19 kids, 9 were problems or had special needs. The teacher said that because my girl could not finish work and was dreamy, she had ADD. Luckily, I worked for a Psychiatrist before I was married (who does not believe in drugging kids). I had him evaluate my daughter. When I announced to the teacher that she did not have ADD, it ended any special favors my daughter got. She was labeled a behavior problem. Although she left kindergarten with all "Outstandings" in her subjects, she was given "Needs Improvement" in behavior, enthusiasm and responsibility. I am now begging to get her into a classroom with more structure. (she also scored above the charts or 99% which is the highest she can get, on the TerraNova tests). This is a charter school. We have no other choice but to homeschool her & her sister should we have the same problems next year.

I wish there were more parents like you. Then civilization has a chance! BTW, I homeschooled my kids most of the time - and this was 25 years ago when it was actually illegal in many states. Plus I was divorced, which made it difficult. I made many mistakes, but I found that teaching kids is really not hard. The parent just has to be interested in what they're teaching and the kids will naturally be interested too. I didn't even graduate from high school, so it takes no special training!
And the nonsense about "socialization" is just nonsense. There are plenty of ways for kids to learn how to get along with people that are much better than being herded with a gang of same-age kids, many of whom are ill-trained and ill-behaved.
I've noticed that homeschooled kids are almost without exception much more polite and balanced and respectful than other kids.

When I announced to the teacher that she did not have ADD, it ended any special favors my daughter got. ....I confronted the teacher when every paper my son brought home had a derogatory remark on it even when he got 100% correct.

I said that there must be a personality conflict between the two and if she felt she couldn't rememdy it, I would gladly go to the principal and have him moved.

Guess what, things changed real fast. Of course that was quiet some time ago, but, working with the teachers first, may eliminate problems early on.

It's not always the childs fault and I think she became worried when I mentioned the principal!

I hope you will seriously consider homeschooling. We have homeschooled for 11 years and are really enjoying reaping the rewards. We have three teenagers and a nine yo and from what I see of them and the comparison to many of the kids we know who go to government schools, I have to say that I would not consider subjecting a child to the environment of government schools if I had any other choice. My kids are not perfect, but we are extremely happy with the choice we made.
