Very probable Stalin had Gareth Jones murdered in Manchukuo. Before heading to China, Jones was in Japan. He stayed at the home of the man who was Soviet spy Richard Sorge's radio operator.

The New York Times has been called the most prestigious US newspaper. Its reporter was the first winner of the prestigious Pulitzer Prize. George Bernard Shaw was annointed by the Times and others as a prestigious playwright. All were boosters of Stalin's massacre of millions of innocents.

Jones died alone and unrecognized. He and other unrecognized wrote the truth of the evils of the communists regime.

Anne Coulter's book deals with the tip of the iceberg in who supported and enabled this evil empire. A price should be paid by these 'prestigious' people for the harm they have caused.

This is a fascinating story, and I hope everyone will read the link.

Jones was a thorough and honest reporter; it's nice to see him getting the respect he deserves.

Perhaps when things settle down a little, you could start a discussion about Richard Sorge. This portion of history is being ignored in the classrooms, and much of what we're dealing with today has roots in these important pieces of history.

I was struck by this line in the UPI story:

You can expect to be branded as a liar in the most prestigious newspaper in the United States

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
