No, no, this is just one of those witty 'makes you think' kind of jokes. Like these!
At the airport - 'I'm gonna blow up this plane! Allahu Akbar!'
At home - 'If you even think of leaving me, I'll kill you!'
At work - 'This is the last time you pass me over for promotion. I'll burn this office to the ground!'
At the police station - 'So, officer, how's your family?'
See, saying stuff like this is funny, because it makes you think. They're just words, right? Words don't hurt anybody.
(EDITORS NOTE: For the humor impaired, the opinions expressed above are sarcastic in their entirety. Do NOT use any of these lines, even in a 'joking' manner.)

It isn't exactly sympathetic. Sure, I guess we should feel sorry for the guy being executed by politics - but it isn't too late save him. This hideous caricature shows a dead man... President George W Bush remains vital and in power and popular.
To: ValerieUSA
I don't think this is a Bush-hating cartoon or a threat. It depicts that Bush is up against brutal political processes, which are trying to take him out, so to speak, much as killers in Iraq are trying to take our soldiers out.
If you look at the cartoonist's other cartoons linked on Reply #21, the author does not appear to be a Bush-hater.

Looks like a nominally pro-Bush cartoon to me, suggesting a brutal, amoral thug ("politics") is assassinating the unarmed and tied-handed Bush.

Do you have any idea what sort of newspapers the Founding Father's had? The idea of objective journalism hadn't appeared in 1789. Every paper was biased ... and they still wrote the First Amendment. Please! We don't censor opinions we don't like in this Republic. If we start, then the Republic has fallen.
To: StupidQuestions
NO, telling someone that they can't voice their opinion about a newspaper is about as un-American as you can get.

" I stopped getting the LA Times years ago, in part due to the odious cartoons by Conrad." I read both L.A. papers...as opposition research.

The secret service should padlock the LATIMES and jail all the people that work in and own this slimy commie rag.

Okay.
So think of it this way. Why would some cartoonist you usually LOL at and whose point-of-view you expect to agree with more often than not suddenly switch?
To: jack gillis; SierraWasp; Grampa Dave
I agree, it really is a shot at the Media!!!!

Based on the reactions I have seen here and in a few duplicate threads, there are many, many dolts here. It took me a while to figure out Ramirez' message (it helps that I know he is a very strong conservative -- probably the only one at the LAT).
It is a little frightening just how stupid and knee-jerking some of our fellow FReepers are.

Yes, please do.
Please share your superior intellect with us inferior maroons. And this had BETTER be good.
