A band of grizzled Louisiana Civil War veterans placed a time capsule beneath the cornerstone of the Louisiana Monument at the Vicksburg (Miss.) National Military Park 83 years ago.
Today, that capsule will be opened, offering a glimpse of what the world was like in 1920.

I hope the water didnt damage the contents to severely.
I remember about 10 years ago, the elementary school my daughter attended found a time capsule while remodeling the building. The kids (and parents) loved it. We had a time capsule opening ceremony as well as a lot of contest and such to replace the capsule with current items. It was a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy your opening. Let us know what you find in the capsule.
