The echo is that of the convention-grabbing, puffing-youthful-anger movement of 1972. It is the hollow sound of the McGovern disaster, an epic flood of nonsense that I had thought caused the Demorat party to reform its procedural rules to prevent any possible repeat of that wonderful night.

Oh, what a time that was, and I am to be blessed, apparently, with yet another enthralling evening of Demorat disaster. Oh, sigh and swoon! That I should be so privileged to live to see another cycle of liberal Demorat self-immolation!

(Of course, we cannot forget the wonderful Carter disaster, either...)

You had to see it coming (apparently, some echos can be seen).

The echos were resounding in the walls of the Williams Center at the Paul Wellstone pep-rally Memorial.

I wonder if conservatives would have been better off if McGovern won. Of course, that would presuppose a much more liberal country in 1972, I that wouldn't have been goos.
