I think this is a bad move for the Sci Fi Channel. Look what happened to Mulder and Sculley when they tried to expose this stuff.

Sci-Fi channel needs to get a grip on reality. Wishful thinking doth not an alien make. I guess it can't hurt in the PR department though.

Bush needs to make a public trip with the press out to Area 51 and the other UFO study areas in the country. Somebody call Geraldo.

Carter's UFO sighting has now become part of the mythology, and no one ever mentions Robert Sheaffer's debunking.

This sort of thing (the fact that crap never gets purged from the UFO mythology) is why I sold my UFO books and went from being an interested skeptic to one of those meanies who just laugh at the whole subject.

I loved farscape. That foxy chick Zen? was ok too. Some of the new stuff is great but I think they gave up on farscape too quickly. It seems they are spreading out to much and not giving great stuff like farscape the chance to develope a cult following.
Even the invisible fella was pretty cool.

Hey! I'm still here. Although the implant in my butt does give me trouble sometimes.

Sci-fi Channel lost touch with reality a year ago when they burned their core viewers and canned it's most popular show (Farscape) after promise, in writing (contract) not too.

You can read about the whole story here: http://www.watchfarscape.com/

By the way, Farscape is currently off air but not dead by a longshot because everyone (actors, writers, producers and fans) except Sci-fi Channel wants to continue Farscape.

If you love Farscape, you might want to look at my above post.

I spent some time seriously looking at this stuff about a decade ago and did my best to retain a scrupulous intellectual neutrality on the subject. I came away utterly disgusted with both the hardcore believers and their gainsaying counterparts in the 'skeptic' community. The signal-to-noise ratio in that field of interest is unbelievablely bad.

Having said that, I am not satisfied that not one single reported incident has any validity to it. In spite of all of the unmitigated BS in 'Ufology', I wouldn't be too surprised, when all is said and done, if there are 'others' in the universe, and if they had looked in on us at some point.

And what reason does scifi give for canning farscape?

Dear Sci Fi Channel,

If really really really getting to the TRUTH and being credible is your goal, then you made a very poor choice in hiring a CLINTONISTA.

Regards.

Basically they all but stopped advertising it, that and a couple of other things, like airing ads of shows (during Farscape) that came on at the same time as Farscape, and then they used the rates, which they themselves drove down to cancel it, which pissed off and saddened everyone else involved.

I'm telling ya, it was all down hill when the SciFi channel hired some Clintonistas.

No MST3000 this AM. Killed off Farscape. Killed off The Chronicle. Scare Tactics may be worthy of a "best of" show.

Bryant Gumbel? Spare me, please.

I like "B" movies, but with all the promotion they are doing for The Hulk, I'll wait for it to come out on video, if not longer.

Saw ole Ben on CSI:Miami in a take off of the Providence night club fire. He's been packing on the pounds. Better him than Raelee. Or Claudia. Or Gigi.

I reluctantly buy the "Rare Earth" argument that we are probably alone or very isolated.

On the other hand I have seen a very few cases and video which pretty clearly show something--or somethings (they may not be the same phenomena) very strange.

I've also read Charles Fort and he and successors pretty well establish that every so often, very strange events occur on Earth--which are also very hard to explain. And I've read material on the Mothman (not well described in the recent movie), "Springheels Jack" and other outre phenomena...which makes you wonder.

That the "something" is little green guys in spacesuits interested in anal probing is open to question.

There are more things in Heaven and Earth than are dreamt of in our philosophy...

Well, after all, its called the Sci-Fi Channel and for good reason. You must admit, it fits their programming agenda rather well.

Cut Ben some slack, on Farscape he may look like he is in his mid-to-late 20's, but in truth, he is in his early-to-mid 40's. Plus, we don't know how much of that was costume and make-up on CSI:Miami.

Sci-Fi channel needs to get a grip on reality.

It is reality: The more of this they can drum up, the more material they have for those shows. There are enough people with an interest that it constitutes a viewer demographic.

Even if we're not, it's not very likely that they can get here.
